The Boys may have ended its run this year, but the series’ universe will carry on in 2027 with the arrival of Vought Rising. Is there even more on the horizon? A newly released video from accounts labeled Vought Cinematic Universe teases the corporate launch of the company’s logo, with Giancarlo Esposito reprising his role as head of Vought, Stan Edgar.
The segment also features Malcolm Barrett reprising his character, Seth Reed, who works as a public relations writer for the company. Posted on August 4, the arrival of the segment comes as a bit of a surprise, as Vought Rising places audiences in the past with Jensen Ackles‘ Soldier Boy taking center stage, but could this be hinting at a present-day storyline or another spinoff altogether?
Only time will tell, as no official announcements have been made, but it would be interesting if the universe were to expand, especially considering The Boys’ other concurrently set spinoff, Gen V, was canceled earlier this year after a two-season run on Prime Video.
In the meantime, fans are reacting to the bizarre VCU launch with the idea that it could be hinting at a spinoff. In the video about the logo, Stan Edgar calls out Seth and his team for not catching onto the fact that the image resembles a penis. “Did anyone stop to say, ‘This is a penis’?” Edgar asked the room of corporate colleagues.
While Seth refuted Stan’s claims, the head of the company went on to point out exactly what he thinks the VCU symbol looks like. The scenario left fans wanting more, with various reactions calling for a mockumentary-style comedy spinoff, à la The Office.
“The office: vought edition!” one fan wrote on Instagram, under the post sharing the video. Another also echoed this sentiment, adding, “An office mockumentary spinoff of the boys would be great ngl.”
“What we need is a VCU version of ‘the office,’” another excited fan commented under the VCU YouTube profile.
“The worst part of the boys ending is that vought wasn’t defeated,” one fan posited in the YouTube comments section, adding,”They killed homelander but they didn’t defeat the true evil. I was really hoping to see the dissolution of vought in the finale.”
Perhaps a spinoff could further explore that possibility? Or maybe these VCU videos are just a fun bit of extra promotional material fans can sink their teeth into until Vought Rising arrives.
