Jasmine Roth is spilling all the details about her upcoming HGTV return.
The Help! I Wrecked My House host will star alongside Leslie Jones in the new series Roast My Rental, which premieres on Friday, July 24. The series will see Jones use her comedic chops to roast some of the country’s worst short-term rental properties. After sharing her hilarious commentary, Roth and her team will come in to give the property a much-needed makeover.
Roth took to Instagram on Saturday, July 4, to answer some fan questions about the show, including one that asked, “Why do you think a show about vacation rentals will be interesting to most people?”
Sharing a photo of one of the show’s pre-renovation bathrooms, she replied, “Ummm…not to be rude but is this a real question? Ha! Have you ever been on vacation? Would you want to stay somewhere with this bathroom? (Note the 40 yr old CARPET on the bathroom floor).”
Another user asked Roth if Jones is just as funny when the cameras aren’t rolling as she is on TV. Roth stated that she’s “never laughed so hard” on a show, adding, “We laughed the entire time we worked together and I’d go home laughing at the end of the day. Some people are just FUNNY!”
Roth also clarified that Jones is a novice when it comes to home renovation. “She just loves HGTV and that’s why we’re a perfect team,” she explained. “She roasts and I fix. But you better believe I’ll try to get her to help me along the way. You’ll have to watch to see if I’m ever successful!”
Roth also opened up about filming the series while pregnant. Shortly after HGTV announced Roast My Rental in May, Jasmine revealed that she and her husband, Brett Roth, are currently expecting their third child. (The couple share daughters Hazel and Darla.)
“I had the blessing of my doctor and we shot over 6 weeks during the end of my first trimester,” she shared. “It was honestly a good distraction from the nausea.”
Speaking of the renovations on the show, Roth admitted that some of the makeovers were “more of a ‘refresh’ than a ‘renovation,’” adding, “I’m not knocking down any houses and rebuilding them because these folks need to get people back on vacation to make their $$$$. But I can’t help myself and there are definitely some really big (ambitious!) things we do take on.”
Roth wrapped up her post by answering a fan who asked if she left her kids for the entirety of the six-week filming process. “No way!” she answered. “I commuted back and forth for the first 3 weeks, then the whole family came to stay with me in California for 3 weeks. My husband works remotely and we enrolled for a few weeks of school in CA so Hazel wouldn’t miss anything.”
