Jennifer Lopez and Edward James Olmos recently had a Selena reunion almost 30 years after the film premiered.
In the 1997 biopic, Lopez played Selena Quintanilla — the real-life “Queen of Tejano Music” who died at 23 after being shot in 1995 — while Olmos played her father, Abraham Quintanilla.
Fast-forward to May 26, 2026, and the duo reunited for the premiere of the upcoming Netflix romcom Office Romance, in which Olmos will once again play the singer’s onscreen dad.
Lopez, 56, and Olmos, 79, posed for a sweet photo together on the red carpet before heading into The Egyptian Theatre Hollywood in Los Angeles, California, on Tuesday evening. The duo was joined on the Office Romance premiere red carpet by many costars, which include Brett Goldstein, Amy Sedaris, Betty Gilpin, Tony Hale, Bradley Whitford, Jodie Whittaker, Rick Hoffman, and more.

“I’ll tell you what happened. We were standing on the carpet just a few minutes ago,” Lopez told Entertainment Weekly of the deja vu moment with Olmos. “I was standing with him, and I remember taking the cast photo with Selena, and I said, ‘Oh my God, do you remember when we did this years ago?’ and he goes, ‘I remember it well!’”
She continued, “I was like, ‘And here we are.’ He’s like, ‘Here we are.’ He’s like, ‘I’m so proud to be here with you.’ I said, ‘I love you so much, thank you.’”
In Office Romance, Lopez plays Jackie Cruz, the president and CEO of the fictional Air Cruz, who “runs a tight ship in her business, including a rigid anti-fraternization policy for all her employees,” per the film’s logline. It continues, “When a new sexy lawyer [Daniel Blanchflower, played by Goldstein] begins working for her, that policy becomes very tested.” Olmos portrays Jackie’s father, Jack Cruz.
Meanwhile, Selena will celebrate its 30th anniversary in March 2027. In addition to Lopez and Olmos, the 1997 film starred Jon Seda, Jackie Guerra, Constance Marie, Alex Meneses, Jacob Bargas, and Lupe Ontiveros, among others.
