Kate Gosselin Breaks Silence On Shocking DNA Results
Kate Gosselin’s kids are all grown up now. Her twins, Mady and Cara, are 25. Sextuplets Alexis, Hannah, Aaden, Collin, Leah and Joel turned 22 in May. She’s still estranged from her son, Collin. Several of her kids still live at home. The former TLC star joined TikTok last year to keep fans updated on her life now.

The reality star is going through something that she says is more stressful than raising eight kids. Kate Gosselin and her boyfriend and former bodyguard, Steve Neild, rescued a Belgian Malinois puppy after losing her German Shepherd, Nanuq, in late 2025. The couple also has another German Shepherd named Meika.
Like many pet owners, Kate Gosselin wanted to know more about her new dog. She did a DNA test on the pup and finally got the shocking results. She thought her new dog was 100% Belgian Malinois but the tests revealed otherwise.
The rescue puppy is 53% Belgian Malinois, 38.7% Dutch shepherd and 8.3% German shepherd. “I was so shocked. I, like, literally cried tears of joy, no offense, that she wasn’t 100% Malinois. Like, I was so relieved.” The new addition has brought Kate Gosselin to tears a lot in the short time she’s had the dog.

Previously Struggled With Adoption
Kate Gosselin’s marriage to Jon ended under the strain of cameras documenting their every move. Her relationship with her son, Collin, is about to get worse when his tell-all memoir hits bookshelves this fall. But despite all of those struggles, she said that’s nothing compared to what she’s dealing with now.
The former TLC star candidly admitted that she wasn’t completely prepared for the difficulty of the Belgian Malinois breed. Kate Gosselin has been documenting nearly every day since she brought Koda home. She got emotional when sharing the stress of having a puppy in the house. However, she’s determined to see it through.

She expressed relief at the shocking DNA results. Her rescue pup isn’t 100% Belgian Malinois like she previously thought. Kate Gosselin is a polarizing figure, but her post about the DNA results received a ton of supportive comments. Many shared stories of their own experience with Belgian Malinois or the surprising rules of their dogs’ DNA tests.
Now that she knows her dog’s lineage, it may be easier to tailor training to the specific breeds. She sent Koda to a training camp, but the pup will return home soon. Share your thoughts on the DNA test.
