Katie Couric Shared That She Was A ‘Very Happy Gogo’
Couric is a journalist who has worked with a number of famous television networks throughout her career. These include ABC News, CBS News, NBC News, and CNN. More recently, she is known for her daily newsletter, Wake Up Call, and her podcast series, Next Question with Katie Couric.
In her personal life, Couric married John Paul “Jay” Monahan III in 1989. The two shared two daughters. Tragically, Jay died of colorectal cancer in 1998. In 2014, she married financier John Molner.
Recently, Couric had a family share for fans on social media. Taking to Instagram, she could be seen with her new baby granddaughter, Virginia.

In the post, Couric could be seen wearing a New York Knicks jersey while cradling her sleeping grandchild. As she captioned the post, “Introducing Virginia Louise!” She noted that Virginia was “born May 30, 2026,” weighing “8lbs, 5 ounces.”
Couric said that she was a “very happy Gogo,” revealing her nickname as a grandmother. She also shared that Virginia’s mother, Ellie, was “doing great” and that her first grandchild, Jay, is “coping.” She also shared that Virginia already has a nickname: “Gigi.”
In her Instagram Stories, Couric also shared an image of her daughter Caroline holding her new niece. In the caption, she noted that Jay calls her “Aunt Kiwi.”
Various famous names commented on the happy news. Actress Julianne Moore, for example, wrote, “Congratulations!!! Xxx.”
