Kelly Ripa Recovering From Major Surgery
Kelly Ripa has been absent from LIVE with Kelly and Mark since the end of July. She underwent a painful dental procedure that left her unable to talk. The former soap star had gum graft surgery after five years of refusing the operation.
The recovery has been more difficult than expected. Viewers will see her back on the talk show on Monday, August 10. However, those episodes were filmed before the surgery. Her post-surgery return isn’t until September when LIVE returns with a new season.
LIVE Hosts Embrace Empty Nest
With LIVE on summer hiatus, Mark Consuelos can stay home and nurse his wife back to health. Their three kids have all flown the coop, or rather, the million-dollar brownstone in New York City. The couple, who married in 1996 after meeting on the set of All My Children, share three children.
Their oldest, Michael, works as a producer on Bravo. Mark Consuelos and Kelly Ripa’s youngest son, Joaquin, made his Broadway debut earlier this year. The couple’s only daughter, Lola, moved to London in 2023 after graduating college. The aspiring singer just shared a racy photo that left fans shocked.

Lola Consuelos moved to London, England, after graduating from New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts. But she didn’t move alone. She followed her longtime boyfriend, Cassius Kidston, back to his home country. The couple met at New York University and have been together for about four years.
Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos fully support the relationship and their daughter’s decision to relocate to England. However, they did recently struggle with Lola’s return home to their New York City condo over the holidays.
Lola Consuelos recently shared a photo dump on Instagram that included a racy photo. She posed next to her boyfriend for a mirror selfie. Kelly Ripa’s daughter showed off a lot of skin in a skimpy blue dress with black lace.
But the racy photo surprisingly wasn’t what had her followers talking in the comments. Another photo revealed a purse with the faces of the family’s beloved dogs on it. The purse featured the faces of Chewie, a Shih Tzu, and Lena, a Maltese/Shih Tzu mix. Sadly, Chewie passed away in 2025 amid declining health.
Shih Tzu named Chewie, whom Kelly adopted on Live in 2007. Tragically, Chewie passed away at age 17 in February 2025 after declining health. They also adopted a Maltese/Shih Tzu mix named Lena in 2020. The couple adopted her after she was part of a dog rescue segment on LIVE with Kelly and Mark.
