Professor Ken, at your service! Ken Jennings shared that the upcoming season of Jeopardy! Masters makes him feel like an old professor.
Season 4 begins on August 25, with Yogesh Raut, Juveria Zaheer, Victoria Groce, Paolo Pasco, Andrew He, and Long Nguyen competing. This time around, the tournament will only be two weeks long, with two episodes shown per night from Tuesday through Friday.
The host spoke with On The Red Carpet about Jeopardy Masters! and how it is like a class reunion. “It’s kind of like a class reunion when they get to come back, and that’s a lot of fun for me. I’m like the old professor who gets older and older at every reunion,” he told the outlet.
Even being the GOAT of the game, Jennings said that the caliber of the questions is very tough this season. “There’s lots of cool and accessible stuff, but there’s also going to be a few clues where I’m like, ‘I can’t believe we expect somebody to know this.’ Because we want to know, like, ‘How good can they get? How good are these people?’ And invariably, some of those hardest clues, somebody will get right,” he said.
When it comes to winning, the host said that the players all “have a strategy and plan.” “Nobody’s playing off of vibes here,” Jennings said.
“Their minds are going a mile a minute. This is a hard show for people who are already amazing Jeopardy! players. Like, we’re testing their limits.”
The winner of Jeopardy! Masters not only gets bragging rights about being the champ, but they also take home the tournament trophy and $500,000. They also get $100,000 donated to the charity of their choice. Everyone goes home with money from the tournament, even if they don’t win. The game is based on a points system, and whoever has the most points will make it to the finals.
Raut and Groce will try to become two-time winners of the tournament, as they have won Seasons 2 and 3. James Holzhauer, 32-game champion, won Season 1.
