American Idol Judge Mocked For New Album
American Idol is on hiatus for the next few months. That gives its judges a chance to spend time with their families and work on their own music. Lionel Richie was admitted to the ICU earlier this week after previously suffering health issues during his summer tour. He was released from the hospital and is hopefully on the mend. Carrie Underwood spent a relaxing summer at home with her husband and two kids.
Luke Bryan worked hard on a new album that’s coming out this month. Signs drops on September 18. However, the American Idol judge has been releasing snippets on social media of various tracks. One song went viral this week but not because it was an addictive earworm. On “Down Goes the Whiskey,” Luke Bryan sings about heading to the bar after heartbreak.
But what was meant to be his next hit turned into a huge joke over the simple lyrics.
“Slam goes the door / Flyin’ goes the dust / Break goes the heart / To the bar goes a truck / Buzz goes the neon / Jukebox goes Whitley / There goes that love up in smoke / And down goes the whiskey.”
The comment section on TikTok became a free-for-all with fans dropping their own lyrics in the comments. “Fart goes the butt,” and “down goes the volume” were among the top suggestions. However, it wasn’t all jokes. Some accused Luke Bryan of something that made him so mad, he threatened violence.
Luke Bryan Threatens To ‘Knock The Sh*t’ Out Of Fans
Before he became famous, Luke Bryan got his start in Nashville as a songwriter. He often writes or co-writes all of his own songs. So, when fans accused him of using A.I. to write the songs from Signs, he lost his cool.
The “Country Girl (Shake It For Me)” singer is pretty easygoing most of the time. It takes a lot to rile him. He apologized and warned fans about an unexpected confrontation with Carrie Underwood on the last season of American Idol. But he didn’t hold back at all when discussing the A.I. accusations against him on Theo Von’s This Past Weekend podcast.
“This whole narrative got started that, that’s the crazy thing about where we’re at with social [media]. They started a narrative that we AI’d it,” Luke Bryan said about the song “Fish Hunt Golf Drink” that he released in May as a teaser for his new album.
“They’re looking in the camera and they’re like, ‘I hate you.’ I’m watching it and I’m like, I can see your face. If I see you one day, I’m gonna f***ing knock the sh*t out of you,” the singer threatened online trolls.
