Miesha Tate Retires From Martial Arts After Losing To Raquel
Miesha Tate is known as the former Strikeforce Women’s Bantamweight Champion and you may even recognize her from her stint in Celebrity Big Brother 3.
Tate retired from martial arts in 2016 after she lost to Raquel Pennington in an intense match. However, the 36-year-old returned after her 5-year retirement with the same old winning moves. She participated in a knockout match with Marion Reneau and defeated her in a bonus Performance Of The Night.

As she rose to the top, the UFC star encountered in a four-fight winning streak before she defeated the MMA boxing legend Holly Holm. As per Monsters And Critics, she won the fifth blockbuster fight round at the UFC 196 and secured the world title.
Following this intense victory, Tate moved up the ladder to go head-to-head in a match against Amanda Nunes, the greatest female mixed martial artist of all time. In the first round, Tate lost via submission.
Miesha Tate Talks About Mental Health In A Stunning Dress
However, it seems like the loss hasn’t brought her spirits down. The champion seems elated in her new Instagram video. Flaunting her beautiful skintight dress, she captioned the video, “Twirling into Tuesday like.”
She also captioned the post with a message for everyone dealing with mental health issues. She wrote, “Let’s go TUESDAY! Ain’t got nothin on me. #mindsetmatters #mentality #mentalhealth.”

After her defeat in a match against Lauren Murphy, the Tacoma native shared a picture showing her injuries after the match. She had swollen lips, bruised nose, and a damaged left eye. Regardless of the painful experience, she still took things positively and wrote, “Some women pay a lot of money for lips like these! All I had to do was get in a little fist fight!”

Tate Retired MMA After Struggling With Mental & Emotional Health
Back in 2021, Tate revealed that she was in a very dark place before her retirement from MMA in 2016. She revealed that she struggled both mentally & emotionally, which caused her to take a break from martial arts. Now that she is back, Tate reveals that she doesn’t lack confidence in her skills anymore & hopes to work her way up in the game.
