Anya Taylor-Joy is making her way back to the small screen in the new TV series, Lucky. The Queen’s Gambit star will play the titular role of con artist Lucky in Apple TV+’s crime thriller series.

What is Lucky’s premiere date?
Lucky’s premiere date is July 15. The first two episodes will drop at 3 a.m. ET / 12 a.m. PT on the premiere date, followed by new episodes every Wednesday through August 19. The TV series will consist of seven episodes.
Who is in the cast of Lucky?
Taylor-Joy plays the main character, Lucky Armstrong, and she also serves as an executive producer. “I was so attracted to playing somebody who was just so desperate to stay still and put down roots and form some kind of attachment where she didn’t feel like the ground was going to fall away from underneath her,” Taylor-Joy told L’Officiel about her latest role. “I think there’s been such a glorification of the hustle and the con, where we see it as very slick and jazzy and sexy. I was intrigued by the idea of: What is this actually like if you can’t form any attachments to anybody? If you can’t even give people your real name, how does that feel?”

Timothy Olyphant is set to play John Armstrong, Lucky’s father. Outer Banks star Drew Starkey plays Cary, Lucky’s husband. Annette Bening, currently starring in Dutton Ranch, steps into the role of Priscilla Matheson, a mob leader. Aunjanue Ellis-Taylor plays Agent Billie Rand.

What is Lucky about?
Lucky chronicles the story of the titular con artist, who is forced to go on the run after a multi-million dollar heist goes sideways. (Lucky isn’t feeling so lucky.) She faces danger and the possibility of prison at every turn. She’s being pursued by the FBI and a ruthless crime boss at the same time.
The book was published in 2021 and became a Reese’s Book Club pick. Apple TV ordered the adaptation to series in 2024.
