  • The cast, crew, and fans celebrated the show’s recognition on social media.
  • Both Ugliest House in America and its spinoff, Scariest House in America, will return to HGTV with new episodes later this year.

Before Ugliest House in America returns for Season 8 this fall, Retta and Alison Victoria are celebrating the show’s recent awards recognition.

The HGTV series was among the winners of The Critics Choice Association’s eighth annual Critics Choice Real TV Awards, which were announced on Wednesday, June 3. Ugliest House in America beat out the likes of Bargain Block, Castle Impossible, Home Town, The Last Wright: Building the Final Home Design of America’s Greatest Architect, and That Thrifting Show with Lara Spencer for the title of Best Lifestyle Show: Home/Garden.

The show’s cast and crew took to social media to celebrate the win. Featured on Retta’s Instagram page was a post shared by Lucilla D’Agostino, President of Big Fish Entertainment, which produces the show for HGTV.

“Congrats to the entire Ugliest team and @hgtv!” D’Agostino wrote on Tuesday. “We love this show couldn’t be more proud. @unforettable @jstarr_00 @thealisonvictoria.”

D’Agostino’s followers flooded the comments with their congratulations. “As if there was another show that deserved the award! Love it!” one user wrote. Another added, “This show is fantastic and the award is well deserved! I look forward to the next season with Retta.” Someone else shared, “Love this show! Congrats!”

Victoria celebrated the award with an Instagram post of her own. “We’ve spent years hunting down and renovating America’s ugliest houses and somehow ended up with a Critics Choice Award!” she wrote alongside photos of herself and Retta on the show. “So proud of @unforettable and every single person behind this crazy, hilarious show. Turns out ugly looks pretty good on us.”

Several HGTV stars congratulated the pair in the comments, including Ty Pennington, who wrote, “Congrats! On your Ugliest award!! You guys make it look so good !! Seriously. Hilarious.” Tristyn and Kamohai Kalama stated, “Congrats!”

Among the comments from fans, one person wrote, “Loveeee this show and love you both on it. The chemistry is fabulous! <3.” Another gushed, “Love this show and love both of you! You two are so funny together!!! and of course love both your stylish styles! Houses and outfits.”

Someone else stated, “You ladies are THE BEST!! Promise me you will never stop. And CONGRATULATIONS.” A different user posted, “Love this show! Congratulations! You all deserve it!” A separate commenter shared, “Love it you I can’t wait it coming soon summer and fall.”

Ugliest House in America, which premiered in 2022, follows Retta as she tours some of the country’s most unique and unconventional homes. The house deemed the ugliest each season receives a $150,000 renovation from Victoria.

The show’s spinoff, Scariest House in America, debuted in 2024. The series follows the same format as its predecessor, but instead follows Retta as she views some of America’s spookiest and most terrifying homes.

Back in March, HGTV announced that both Ugliest House in America and Scariest House in America would return with new episodes later this year. The latter series received a fall 2026 premiere date in May.
