The former Today host turned 62 on Sunday, August 9. Kotb gave fans a glimpse into her at-home celebrations via Instagram, including the special surprise she received from her daughters, Haley and Hope.
“Thx for all of the love,” Kotb captioned a Sunday Instagram clip of her kids and her pal Jennifer Miller presenting her with not one, but three different birthday cakes, each decorated with birthday messages and candles. Kotb danced along to an upbeat version of “Happy Birthday” before Haley and Hope helped her blow out each of the cakes’ candles.
Kotb’s post also featured snaps of herself and her girls celebrating with members of Kotb’s family, including her mom, Sameha, her sister, Hala, and her brother, Adel. The clip ended by showing a sweet photo of Kotb and Miller snuggled up with Haley and Hope on a couch.
Fans and celebrities flooded the post’s comments with birthday messages for Kotb. “Darling older woman, Hoda, mama Hoda everything! I love you, and I sent you my sweetest blessings and prayers,” wrote her former Today co-host Kathie Lee Gifford. Sheinelle Jones shared, “Happy Birthday!!!” Norah O’Donnell, for her part, wished Kotb the “Happiest birthday.” Elizabeth Chambers gushed, “Happy Birthday to our Queen!”
One fan wrote, “Happy birthday Hoda! I hope you are feeling how much you are loved by everyone! Love you!” Another said, “Happy birthday Hoda! We miss you! But are so happy for you! Wishing you all the best!!” Someone else shared, “Happy Birthday to a birthday twin (same day and same year)! Here’s wishing you an AMAZING trip around the sun!”
A different person posted, “Hoda. Happy bday and thanks for inspiring us all!!! Kotb and Guthrie anchored Today from 2018 until Kotb’s exit from the NBC morning show in January 2025. Kotb briefly returned to her former role earlier this year to fill in for Savannah in the wake of her mother Nancy Guthrie‘s disappearance.
