Late Night with Seth Meyers last aired a new episode in July. It’s nearly the middle of September and the show hasn’t returned yet. Most shows returned immediately after the Labor Day holiday. But Late Night doesn’t return with new episodes until Monday, September 21, 2026. But could this be its last season?
Host & Staff Bracing For Cancellation
Seth Meyers is right to worry about his late-night show. CBS abruptly canceled Stephen Colbert’s show despite high ratings. The FCC is keeping a close eye on Jimmy Kimmel amid the host’s feud with President Trump. ABC recently addressed rumors that Jimmy Kimmel’s show was ending next year.
Seth Meyers has had his own issues with the President. However, it doesn’t appear that the feud has anything to do with the show’s future. An insider revealed to Radar Online that it comes down to money. “The cuts have already been visible. The band is gone, the show is down to four original episodes a week, and now the production shutdown is stretching longer than ever,” the source said.
Seth Meyers has a deal with NBCUniversal through 2028, so he may not be out of a job for long if the show is canceled. His staff, however, is a different story. “People aren’t panicking, but they are polishing their résumés,” an insider said. “It’s death by a thousand budget cuts – and everyone is watching where the knife lands next.”
Seth Meyers and John Oliver co-headline a stand-up comedy residence later this year. They take over the Beacon Theatre in New York City on September 27, October 25, 2026, November 22, 2026, and December 13, 2026. Seth Meyers also has solo comedy tour dates into early 2027.
