- War stars Sienna Miller and Dominic West break down Carla and Morgan’s Episode 5 woes.
- From Carla’s talk show meltdown to Morgan’s failed dinner with Gabriel.
As War‘s divorce battle raged on in the latest episode, cracks in the facade of Carla (Sienna Miller) and Morgan (Dominic West) began to show as they faced new hurdles in the legal proceedings. Warning: Spoilers for War Season 1 Episode 5 ahead!
The installment kicked off with a talk-show appearance for Carla, who was told to keep the divorce under wraps, but when the host spoke so kindly about Morgan, it forced the actress to crash out. “I really struggled with that scene because I just couldn’t imagine it happening,” Miller admits to TV Insider. “I understand that it makes for great TV, and maybe there are instances where you just crack like that, but it was not a fun thing to shoot somehow.”
There was a level of catharsis to Carla’s moment, but for Miller, it was far from that experience, and there was immediate backlash for the character until her legal team sorted a podcast appearance to smooth things over in the court of public opinion. When it came to filming the talk show scene, though, Miller added, “I think I just felt so self-conscious and then you have an audience, people going boo, and that didn’t feel great.”

“But yeah,” she admitted, “a part of our job is to put on a brave face in spite of what you might be feeling.” And although Carla faced struggles for her public displays, Morgan paid for his personally after a sweet dinner shared with his stepson Gabriel (Aran Murphy). It was apparent from previous episodes that Morgan cared for the boy, and the pair shared a nice discussion before paparazzi presented the meet-up as feeling like a forced photo-op. It ruined Gabriel’s view of Morgan in that moment, which was the opposite of his intention.
Despite the tough position Morgan was left in, it was nothing but a pleasure to perform alongside Murphy, who is also currently featuring in HBO‘s comedy, Youth with Sharon Horgan. “Aran, he’s a really good actor, and a really nice guy; there’s no nonsense about him. He’s really straightforward, and a good listener, and very flexible in what he does,” West commends his scene partner.
“I’ve got two boys, but just a bit younger than him, so I feel quite comfortable with guys like that, and actually they know him; they’re good friends of his now,” West reveals.
Can Morgan and Carla salvage what’s been broken long enough to get their family back on track, divorced or not? Stay tuned to find out and let us know what you thought of these standout moments from the latest episode of War in the comments section below.
