Stars Break Down What’s Next After Halloween Twist (Exclusive)

- Advertisment -

Ghosts is back, and while much of the Halloween special’s drama revolved around the arrival of Hetty’s (Rebecca Wisocky) sister Margaret (Maria Thayer), the installment also focused on the spirits of Woodstone as they debated over bringing Pete (Richie Moriarty) back with an aptly timed séance following his disappearance. Warning: Spoilers for Ghosts’ Halloween Special ahead!

Alberta (Danielle Pinnock) was convinced not to go forward with the séance by Sasappis (Román Zaragoza) for fear that if Pete had gotten “sucked off,” he’d end up “going down” after revealing too much about where he’d been. Instead, the ghosts, along with Kyle (Ben Feldman) and Jay’s (Utkarsh Ambudkar) help, were able to gather for a memorial timed to Pete’s death, and they worked to honor the spirit, who actually respawned on the lawn outside.

When he walked into the estate, though, the spirits greeted him with joy and excitement, only to discover Pete had forgotten everything about his afterlife. So, what does this mean? We’re breaking down everything we know about Pete’s return below and what it could mean moving forward.

Danielle Pinnock as Alberta, Brandon Scott Jones as Isaac, Rebecca Wisocky as Hetty, Sheila Carrasco as Flower, Devan Chandler Long as Thor, Asher Grodman as Trevor, Román Zaragoza as Sasappis, Ben Feldman as Kyle, and Utkarsh Ambudkar as Jay in the 'Ghosts' Halloween Special

How did Pete return to Ghosts?

Pete had disappeared after he left the property for too long with his ghost power in Season 5, and it seemed that a death anniversary was the trick to bring him back. Hopefully Season 6 will continue to reveal further information as to how that was possible.

What happened to Pete’s memory?

Whatever happened to Pete after he disappeared, it clearly impacted his memories of his afterlife as he entered the mansion with the mindset of having just died, rather than having been dead for years. Stay tuned to find out if there’s an explanation for his predicament.

What has been said about Pete’s return?

“It’s going to be mainly a big challenge and hopefully a wonderful opportunity for Richie Moriarty, who plays Pete, to explore with a brand new lens everything that he used to know and now doesn’t know,” Wisocky tells TV Insider.

“It’ll be an opportunity and a challenge for Alberta for sure,” she teases of Pete’s girlfriend and fellow ghost. “I think one of the themes of this season is new beginnings, and they really hit the nail on the head with that. There are opportunities for some of the ghosts to take advantage of his naivete, and for us to learn new things about the ghost rules ourselves as we try to teach him what they are. I think it’s a really exciting reset.”

Costar Asher Grodman, who plays pantless spirit Trevor, adds, “There’s a transition period where that’s not the guy we know, and he’s put in this position of being stuck between the man he was when he was alive and the stories that he’s hearing from us about who he is now.” Now that Pete has returned, can the ghosts of Woodstone help the version we’ve come to know find his way back? “There’s a rocky road ahead for our poor little Pete,” Grodman teases.

Stay tuned for more on Pete’s return as we look ahead to Ghosts‘ holiday special, and let us know your theories in the comments section below.
