The Gilded Age Season 4 finally has a premiere date and its first official teaser trailer. Plus, the official cast list has been revealed, and it includes a new name: Tony winner Adrienne Warren joins the cast in an undisclosed role. She’s not seen in the teaser (above), but it’s still a delicious first look featuring a new classic one-liner from Christine Baranski‘s Agnes van Rhijn, as well as updates on George (Morgan Spector) and Bertha Russell (Carrie Coon), whose marriage is in peril.
“Shouldn’t we leave vengeance to the lord?” Cynthia Nixon‘s Ada Forte asks her sister.
“Not if we want it done properly,” Agnes replies. “I find often the lord is too lenient.” Oh, how we’ve missed you, Agnes.
The Gilded Age Season 4 premieres on Sunday, November 1, at 9/8c on HBO, streaming on HBO Max. In Season 4, “Bertha Russell changed Society at a cost. Now, her family must reckon with the consequences as Agnes van Rhijn seizes an opportunity to regain her position. Meanwhile, Marian forges a new path for herself, and Peggy works to be accepted by her future in-laws. In this new era, you must be careful what you wish for.”

A dinner with the president of the United States might be Agnes’ opportunity for social climbing that the season description teases. In the teaser trailer, Agnes tells Ada, “The entire reputation of this family depends on the success of the president’s dinner. This is no time to be pinching pennies.” Ada, still the wealthy sister, replies, “Especially when they’re not your pennies to pinch!”
The sisters and niece Marian (Jacobson) are seen welcoming guests to a dinner decorated with American flags. Photos from the set of Season 4 imply that the arrival of the Statue of Liberty will be a big event in Season 4, so it would track for the U.S. president to be in New York for the occasion. Gaffigan plays Grover Cleveland, the 22nd president of the United States, who comes to New York to curry favor with the elite class this season.
The tagline in the teaser says, “Among the elite, one false move can cost you everything.” Bertha is seen keeping her tense relationship with her husband quiet while Mrs. Winterton (Curran) questions his whereabouts. Earlier, George and Bertha are seen together in their Manhattan home when George says, “You may be the key to our family’s survival.” Later, George is seen throwing a drink into a fire in a fit of rage and holding up a gun in defense in another shot.
