The View wrapped up Season 29 at the end of July. The hosts are on a summer break until the show returns in September. The new season marks the show’s 30th anniversary. Fans would love to see some beloved former hosts return to celebrate. The show’s executive producer addressed Rosie O’Donnell’s shocking return. Keep reading for all the details.
Rosie O’Donnell Reveals Return To Daytime TV
Rosie O’Donnell made a surprise return to the U.S. in June 2026, a year after moving there with her youngest child, Clay. The comedian returned for the Tony Awards, but revealed several reasons why she’s staying through the summer. She’s currently appearing off-Broadway in a one-woman show, Common Knowledge. Beginning August 17, she takes over Jimmy Kimmel Live! as a guest-host.

But what fans really want is her back on daytime TV. The Rosie O’Donnell Show aired from 1996 until 2002. She turned down a massive amount of money to continue the show. She joined The View in 2006, but only stayed for one season. Rosie O’Donnell returned in 2014, but again left by the start of Season 15.
Despite her short-lived tenure, her time as co-host and moderator was memorable. Shortly after returning from Ireland, she told Andy Cohen on Watch What Happens Live that she would be open to returning to the ABC talk show.

She shared an update on the Tangle with Kyle Ridley podcast and said she had been asked to return for Season 30.
The View Boss Addresses Rosie O’Donnell’s Shocking Return
Since its 1997 debut, The View has had 24 co-hosts. Not all of them were invited back for the milestone season. In fact, neither was Rosie O’Donnell. At least, not officially. Current View co-host Ana Navarro casually mentioned former hosts returning for Season 30.
However, the executive producer of the show, Brian Teta, addressed Rosie O’Donnell’s claims about her shocking return. “We love seeing all the excitement about The View’s 30th, lots of plans are in the works, but no invites have gone out,” he wrote on Twitter, days after her comments went viral.

Fans of the show bombarded him with feedback on which former co-hosts to bring back or comments on the current hosts.
- “You already have 2 hosts with Negative Nasty attacks on guests that appear on your show, please by all means don’t introduce Rosie O’Donell in any form on your show.”
- “please bring back everyone including [Rosie O’Donnell] and [Michelle Collins]!!!!! One big View co-host reunion!!!!!”
- “We all know Me-Again [Meghan McCain] does not deserve an invite. Do right by the show, the current hosts and the fans and leave her off the list”
- “maybe work on preventing Sara from randomly crying for no reason and getting sunny to stop laughing like a deranged seal”
- “You better bring Rosie back!!”
It sounds like ABC is still in the early stages of planning how to celebrate 30 seasons of The View. Tell us in the comments which former hosts you want to see return.
