Things are changing on The Voice. Despite Carson Daly hosting for years, there’s some new talent coming in. It seems that the network was ready for someone new with ‘fresh energy.’ Keep reading to find out what else NBC is saying about the change.
The Voice Changes Hosts
Big changes are coming to The Voice. The show first started in April of 2011. Since episode 1, Carson Daly has been the host of the show. However, now, things are starting to shift. Apparently, NBC is ready to push Carson out and bring new talent in. Moving forward, he will only be hosting one portion of the show. A new spinoff is coming to the network called The Voice: Celebrity. This show, though in the same franchise, will not be hosted by Carson. And, he seems to be okay with that.
However, fans won’t be losing him there totally. He will still be on as an Executive Producer, Yahoo! says. The host of the new show will be Keke Palmer. But in order to keep fans happy, they are still keeping Carson around.
Apparently, they are “keeping Carson on as a producer was the network’s way of softening the blow.” The source continues, saying, “Let’s be honest — the host is the face of the show, and that spotlight now belongs to Keke.”
However, there seems to be no hard feelings. Carson is more than happy to cheer on the new host online.
“We have a NEW amazing HOST! The triple threat queen @keke who is PERFECT for it!” Carson writes online. “Many today have asked if I’m leaving the show. Nope. We’re gonna try out these 2 formats this fall/spring & see how it goes! Hopefully this post clears up any confusion.”
Apparently, this switch is coming after the network decided it was time to bring some fresh energy to the show.
“NBC wanted fresh energy, a younger face, and someone who could light up social media,” a source says.
Big Salary Difference
A big switch like this comes with a big salary difference. Keke will be making nowhere near as much as Carson Daly did. While Carson was at $6 million, Keke will only be at $2 million.
“Carson was making close to $6 million a season, which includes both his hosting and his producer fee. That amount was not the same as when he joined the show’s first season. His salary went up as he continued to lead the series. Keke, due to it being just her first season, is going to make closer to $2 million for her hosting role on Season 31 of The Voice.”
