Joy Behar has missed nearly a month on The View after a backstage tumble left her with a dislocated shoulder. Since then, she has made her return to the talk show she’s been part of for decades. Following this, an insider has spoken out about feelings behind the scenes of the cast and crew, including Behar herself.

Joy Behar Missed Most Of October 2026 On The View Following Her Injury, But Returned In Time For Halloween

Behar is one of the longest-running co-hosts on The View. She had been part of the show since the very start in 1997, briefly exiting in 2013, only to return in 2015.

Recently, however, Behar found herself away from The View for nearly a month due do a dislocated shoulder. Starting after her last appearance on September 30, 2026, she continued to be absent for weeks, even after a previously announced return date.

Since then, Behar returned to the show on October 27, 2026. She was even able to appear in this year’s Halloween episode on October 30, 2026, in which she appeared in a pre-taped cold open spoof of Obsession. In addition, a child even appeared dressed as her during the episode.

Previously, Behar had gotten hurt after taking a tumble backstage at ABC Studios. While physically away from the show, she had continued to share updates with fans on the show, as delivered by her cast mates.

Speaking with Star Magazine, a source recently weighed in on Behar’s return. The insider shared, “Everyone is in awe of how tough Joy is. She’s clearly still in a ton of pain, but she’s refusing to take any more time off.”

The Insider Emphasized That Joy’s Return Was Ultimately Her Own Decision

The source continued, “She says she can’t stand being stuck on the sidelines. No doubt she’s a workaholic, but she’s also got such a sense of duty to her audience; she feels like they count on hearing her perspective on the news.”

The source also conveyed that the cast and crew of the long-running talk show were happy to have Behar back. As they noted, “All the women are happy to have her back.”

However, the insider emphasized that the return was ultimately Behar’s decision. They noted, “They didn’t pressure her to come back, and they are very clear she should be taking this at her own pace, but it’s obvious they’re relieved because the show is better when she’s there.”
