Wile E. Coyote sues the Acme Corporation’s faulty products after countless failed attempts to catch Road Runner in Coyote vs. Acme, a new live-action/animation hybrid Looney Tunes film. Sounds good, right? Warner Bros. didn’t think so. The studio shelved the movie after it was already made in November 2023 to get a tax write-off.
When word got out that the movie got rave reviews from test audiences, support to save the film flooded in. Ketchup Entertainment saved the day when buying the movie, which had a $72 million budget, from WB for $50 million, and now it’s finally coming to theaters in August.
The first reviews came out on August 12, and critics are raving about it. It has a 95 critics’ rating on Rotten Tomatoes with 40 reviews. Coyote vs. Acme is coming out in theaters, but will it be available on streaming? Here’s what we know so far.

Coyote vs. Acme comes out in movie theaters nationwide on August 28.
The film stars Will Forte, Lana Condor, John Cena, P.J. Byrne, Tone Bell, Martha Kelly, and, of course, some Looney Tunes, including Wile E. Coyote, Road Runner, Bugs Bunny, Elmer Fudd, and Tasmanian Devil. See the trailer above.
Will Coyote vs. Acme be available on streaming services?
A streaming release hasn’t been confirmed, but it’s likely that Coyote vs. Acme will, at the very least, be available on video on demand after its theatrical release. And after it almost disappeared from existence entirely, let’s hope it gets a physical media release as well so it can’t be lost in the digital streaming void.

What are critics saying about Coyote vs. Acme?
Critics on Rotten Tomatoes are saying that it’s a good thing this movie got saved.
Siddhant Adlakha from Joy Sauce said, “It sounds unhinged to even say it, but Coyote vs. Acme really does feel like a strange miracle of an all-ages movie, the kind that Hollywood rarely releases anymore, and in this case, almost didn’t.”
Simon Crook from Time Out said, “Slamming the funny bone with the force of a plunging piano, this berserk comedy is like swallowing a sausage-string of TNT. In other words, it’s an absolute blast.”
Pete Hammond from Deadline said, “It’s a pleasure to report that the film is a hilarious delight, one of the best live-action/animation films ever, and will be treasured by Looney Tunes fans (and who isn’t one?).”
Taylor Gates from Collider said, “Coyote vs. Acme‘s journey to the big screen proves that good things come to those who wait, but fantastic things come to those who never give up.”
Not every critic gives it a perfect score even when the review is positive overall, but most of the reactions agree that it’s good that this movie is seeing the light of day.
