S.W.A.T. Exiles hasn’t even premiered yet — it debuts on Friday, September 25, on Starz — but we know that they’re going to be making another season of it.
On Monday, August 10, Shemar Moore announced that Sony Pictures Television, which produces the series, had picked up the S.W.A.T. spinoff for a second season in a post on Instagram. And he couldn’t be more excited to continue to play Daniel “Hondo” Harrelson and tell the next chapter of the character and story that first ran for eight seasons on CBS.
“We’re jazzed,” Moore tells TV Insider before adding, with a laugh, “As soon as I get off the phone with you, I got to get to the gym and get all my Hondo back.”
At the time that he announced the renewal, he had mentioned that filming starts in a couple of months. It’s too soon to speculate as to when Season 2 could be released.

S.W.A.T. Exiles was ordered to series by Sony two days after the last episode of the mothership aired on CBS in 2025. The full first season was already filmed by the time Starz became its home in June 2026, with the announcement of the fall premiere date.
S.W.A.T. Exiles picks up with Hondo no longer leading 20-Squad. But, according to the logline, he’s “pulled back into action to lead a last-chance experimental S.W.A.T. unit made up of untested and unpredictable young recruits. Bridging a generational divide, Hondo must navigate clashing personalities and turn a squad of outsiders into a team capable of protecting the city and saving the program that made him who he is.”
Joining Moore in the cast are Ronen Rubinstein as Jude, Freddy Miyares as Ethan, Zyra Gorecki as Cassidy, Adain Bradley as Malik, and Lucy Barrett as Sammy. Jay Harrington, Patrick St. Esprit, and David Lim will be back in their S.W.A.T. role as Sergeant David “Deacon” Kay, Commander Robert Hicks, and Victor Tan, respectively, in Season 1.
