Late on Tuesday, August 4th, 2026, Perez Hilton went live on TikTok. He was seemingly having some sort of mental health issues and proceeded to slice himself. It appeared that he may have been suicidal, but as of now, the details are unclear. What is clear is that the social media forum allowed him to remain live in this state for over thirty minutes. Now, they are being slammed and with good reason.
Perez Hilton’s Live Left People Traumatized
Seeing that Perez Hilton was live on TikTok made many rush to see what he was up to. Being popular in the entertainment industry, maybe he had some piping hot tea. No one could have anticipated what they would have seen next. The 48-year-old was covered from head to toe in blood, nude, and slicing himself with a knife. Now, some initially thought this was performative and that it was fake blood. No one could be doing this and getting away with it live on social media.
Eventually, the authorities were called, but Perez was live for over 30 minutes in this state. It was also shared on other social media sites, and many have shared that they wished they never saw this. They were previous self-harmers, and it brought them back to a place they did not want to be. A demand has now been made to file a suit against TikTok for allowing this to play out for over 30 minutes. Moreover, for allowing teens and adults to see this horrific moment.
In the comments, some stated that this made them question if they wanted a social media hiatus. However, others felt that it was not worth fighting given that no one was forced to watch. Keep in mind that when Perez Hilton went live, no one had any idea what they were going to see. When they saw it, many did report it. Therefore, his account could have been halted or banned far sooner than it was.
Something Needs To Change
A lot of prayers are being sent out to Perez Hilton and his family. He is currently getting help at the hospital, which is great to hear. However, that does not change what many accidentally ended up seeing on TikTok and cannot erase from their minds. That being said, should there be a suit?
