Today Show co-anchor Craig Melvin has worked hard to get to where he is, but there have been suspicions that he is not happy. He may feel underappreciated, and he may not be getting the interviews that he wants or possibly deserves. Now, he has revealed a plan to quit ASAP, but how will that all go down? Keep reading for the details that the father of two shared.
Craig Melvin Ready To Leave?
When Savannah Guthrie’s mother was abducted in February 2026, her Today Show family rallied around her. Craig Melvin ensured that he was available no matter what she needed. However, he was allegedly hurt that Hoda Kotb was the one to do the first interview with Savannah before she returned. It was rumored that he was the one who wanted the big break and felt that he deserved it. That may have been true, but Savannah and Hoda had also been through a lot. This led to speculation that he might exit sooner rather than later and go where he was valued.

Now, he has revealed that he is ready to quit ASAP, and he has a very good reason. The 47-year-old was playing Powerball on Monday, August 10th. It was estimated to be worth $905 million, so if Craig Melvin won, he would leave his day job and live his best life. He shared his plan with his co-host, Savannah Guthrie, who was back from filming Wordle:
“Here’s the thing, you might not see me again. If I hit the Powerball tonight, I’m playing tonight, if I hit it, SG, it was a fun ride while it lasted.”
Of course, Savannah had to play around with Craig. She joked that he was not the type who would win the millions but still go to work. Savannah also pointed out how big the Powerball was and that a lot of people were in the same shoes as Craig:
“It’s $905,000,000, a lot of people are dreaming big this morning.”
Not A Winner
It does not appear that Craig Melvin is giving up his day job anytime soon. No one seemingly won the Powerball, so it is now up to $1 billion. Therefore, Craig still has a chance at being a winner, quitting the Today Show, and moving on to greener pastures. It is fun to see how excited Craig gets about the lottery and the fact that he has his dream job. However, he is still dreaming big and having fun with it. Maybe next time, Craig.
