The Today Show is where many people get their news while drinking their morning coffee. The program also mixes news with entertainment. However, many viewers didn’t find the recent guests on the show entertaining. In fact, viewers blasted the show for allowing “inappropriate” skin-baring outfits. Today Show Guests Blasted For ‘Inappropriate,’ Skin-Baring Outfits
Like most talk shows, the Today Show gives actors, authors, musicians, and more a platform to promote their latest work. One of the NBC show’s most popular segments is the Citi Concert Series, which takes place on the Rockefeller Center plaza from May through September.
Crowds pack the plaza for the free performance from some of music’s rising artists. The Today Show welcomed international sensation Katseye on Friday, August 14. The all-girl group was handpicked from thousands of submissions. Their rise to stardom was documented on the Netflix docuseries Pop Star Academy: Katseye.
The group just released their third EP, Wild, this week. They performed their new single “Hootie Frutti,” along with their hits “Animal” and “PINKY UP.” The crowd went wild for the performance. However, viewers at home were disgusted. They took to social media to blast the Today Show for spotlighting half-naked young women on morning television. - “They were very scantily dressed and their dancing was suggestive”
- “The outfits and dance moves were not appropriate for kids in the audience.”
- “Please give them more clothes!”
- “There are kids watching!”
- “Ugh just lip synching and gyrating”
Viewers Feel ‘Out Of Touch’ With Citi Concert Series Acts
Katseye is a six-member group, but only four of them appeared on the Today Show. Members Sophia and Manon took a break for mental health reasons. Craig Melvin asked the remaining members for an update on how their missing members are doing. “As Katseye, it’s so important to us to always prioritize our well-being,” Raj said. “We stand by Sophia and Manon through and through. We ride for them.”
Katseye’s risqué performance wasn’t the only complaint from viewers. Another took to Reddit to vent that the Citi concerts used to be better and now spotlight unknown artists. Other Today Show viewers agreed.
- “I feel completely out of the loop on music this summer. I only knew 2 of those performers.”
- “I have no clue who any of this summer’s concerts have been. I always have to google them.”
- “In my 30s and with a few exceptions I don’t think I was familiar with most of the acts this year.“
- “The good music is on the CBS Saturday morning thing.”
There are just a few weeks left of the Citi Concert series. Disgruntled viewers may feel more familiar with some of the remaining acts.
