FBI Agent Speculates Today Show Played Role In Nancy Guthrie’s Kidnapping
Nancy Guthrie had dinner with her daughter Annie and son-in-law, Tommaso Cioni, on the night of January 31, 2026. It was the last time she was seen. Restored security camera footage revealed a masked man tampering with the camera, leaving the rest of the events that night an unsolved mystery. TMZ and other outlets received several ransom notes allegedly from the kidnapper or someone with information about what happened. However, all the clues and notes have been complete dead ends.

Nearly a year after her disappearance, Nancy Guthrie is still missing. No one even knows why she was taken in the first place. However, there has been speculation that it had something to do with her daughter being rich and famous. Nancy Guthrie made several appearances alongside Savannah on the Today Show over the years.
The NBC morning show did a segment on Savannah’s hometown just months before her mother’s disappearance. An FBI agent suggested the kidnappers used that footage in the kidnapping.
“It fits with somebody who saw an opportunity and planned to take advantage of that opportunity and executed on their plan,” retired FBI Agent Steve Moore told NewsNation in a recent interview. Local restaurants and other clues in the area could have been enough for the kidnappers to pinpoint Nancy Guthrie’s location, he speculated.

The Guthrie family has begged the kidnappers to bring Nancy home to no avail.
