Following her recent Today trip to Alaska, Dylan Dreyer is stepping out of New York City to work on another exciting project.
Dreyer has been part of the Today family since 2012 and has co-hosted the show’s third hour since 2019. That same year, Dreyer launched NBC‘s Earth Odyssey With Dylan Dreyer, which follows the meteorologist as she travels across the globe to explore the connections between humans and their local wildlife.
In a Saturday, August 15, Instagram post, Dreyer revealed that the show will return for a ninth season. “Earth Odyssey Season 9!!!!!” she excitedly captioned the upload. “Can’t believe how long you guys have supported this show! Our rockstar team is so excited to bring you the new season soon! @nbcearthodyssey @themoreyouknow @nbc.”
The post featured several behind-the-scenes photos of Dreyer and the Earth Odyssey crew filming the new season. Fans shared their excitement for the show’s Season 9 return in the comments section, including one user who wrote, “Love your show. We record it, and faithfully come back from soccer game, shower and sit down and watch it. Love love love it! Keep up the good work.”

Earth Odyssey returned for its eighth season in November 2025. New episodes continue to air Saturdays at 10:30 a.m./9:30c on NBC. Neither NBC nor Dreyer has confirmed when Season 9 will premiere.
Dreyer was absent from Today‘s Studio 1A for all of last week, as Craig Melvin revealed she was out on assignment. On Thursday, August 13, Dreyer reported live from Ketchikan, Alaska, to share a segment about how marine mammal scientists are working with MSC Cruises to investigate “vessel strikes” in the U.S. and help ship crews better navigate whale-filled waters.
She shared several picturesque snaps from the visit via Instagram on Thursday. “What an absolutely magical experience in Ketchikan, Alaska. When work friends are your actual friends, it makes it that much more special!” she captioned the upload. “I learned so much about humpback whales and the research by @team_orca_ in conjunction with @msccruisesofficial is so important in keeping them safe. Hope you caught my spot on @todayshow this morning! Thanks for trusting me with this story!!”
