What To Know

  • Deadliest Catch aired Todd Meadows’ first posthumous appearance as a deckhand on the Aleutian Lady.
  • Meadows, remembered as a devoted father and hardworking crew member, tragically died after falling overboard.
  • The show previously honored Meadows with emotional scenes, including a message to his children and a tribute photo.

Deadliest Catch star Todd Meadows just made his first posthumous appearance on the Discovery Channel show, five months after he died at 25.

On the Friday, July 17 episode, Meadows was introduced as a deckhand on the Aleutian Lady. An emotional scene showed him speaking with his three young kids during a FaceTime call. “I love you guys,” he told them before embarking on the fishing trip that would be his last.

Narrator Mike Rowe described Meadows as a “devoted father” from Elma, Washington. “Todd has been around boats and knows what’s expected of him,” Capt. Rick Shelford told producers. “But he’s green. He’s never been on the Bering Sea.”

In February, Meadows died after he fell overboard near the coast of Alaska. Shelford confirmed the tragic news in a Facebook post, writing, “February 25, 2026 was the most tragic day in the history of the Aleutian Lady on the Bering Sea. We lost our brother, Todd Meadows.”

Shelford continued, “Todd was the newest member of our crew, he quickly became family. His love for fishing and his strong work ethic earned everyone’s respect right away. His smile was contagious, and the sound of his laughter coming up the wheelhouse stairs or over the deck hailer is something we will carry with us always.”

In May, Deadliest Catch honored Meadows in the Season 22 premiere before he was officially introduced on the show.

“It’s been one of my dreams and goals to make it up here. I’ve been to Alaska before, but never to fish, just to vacation and hang out with family,” Meadows said in a clip. “Everything up here that I’ve experienced so far is just so much bigger. Everything’s scaled up. It smells different, feels different.”

Meadows also acknowledged that “there’s a lot of risk” with crab fishing. He added, “I just want my kids to know that I want them to work towards your dreams and goals, don’t let anything slow you down. It’s going to be fun. I’m just fortunate that I fell in love with it.”

To conclude the tribute, a photo of Meadows was displayed alongside the message, “In Memory of Todd Meadows 2000-2026.”
