Fans recently saw Top Chef return for Season 23, filming out of North and South Carolina. An upcoming episode of the show will feature a celebrity guest. Coming along for the ride, however, are some very tough critics, who will partake in the series’ latest challenge.
Top Chef: Carolinas Made Its Debut Back In March
Top Chef is a reality competition series that premiered on Bravo in 2006. The series revolves around chefs competing against each other while being judged by a bunch of notable culinary figures.
The series originally returned for its twenty-third season back in early March. This season, Top Chef: Carolinas, has its filming based in North and South Carolina, with each season based around a different location.
Comedian and actress Fortune Feimster is set to appear as a guest star on the series, joining host Kristen Kish. As the host noted, Fortune herself is a North Carolina native.
As seen in a preview, Fortune will step onto the set to help deliver an unexpected challenge to the contestants. The comedian shared, “Cooking for people is your love language. Doing comedy is how I try to make people happy.” She explained that she teamed up with the charity, Comic Relief, which uses laughter and comedy to help kids in need.
The Upcoming Challenge Will Involve A Location & A Holiday
Kish explained that the contestants will put their improv skills in the kitchen to the test during the next Quickfire Challenge. Feimster then introduced some friends, as Kish warned, “They’re the toughest critics you’ll probably ever face.”
These mystery judges turned out to be a trio of kids. As Feimster teased, “Did I forget to tell you they are children?” Contestant Duyen Ha noted that impressing them wouldn’t be an easy task. As he shared, “Kids are ruthless, and so I know they’re gonna be coming in hot.”
The kids talked about their favorite holidays and places to visit. This helped Kish develop a challenge: a dish based around Christmas in Colorado. The dish also has to involve a third concept, “Puffified.” However, the chefs are allowed to interpret that in any way they choose.
While this might seem simple, it could still put some of the chefs at a disadvantage. Contestant Laurence Louie admitted, for example, “I have never been to Colorado in my life.”
The next episode of Top Chef airs on Monday, April 6, titled “Cut and Dry.” New episodes will air on Mondays on Bravo.
The episode has also been teased with a preview video on Instagram. As it was captioned, “Watch what happens when Fortune Feimster and the kids come to judge the ‘Cheftestants.’ Tune in to #TopChef Monday on @bravotv!”
