Unexpected fans have had enough of Jason Korpi. They despise the way he treats his girlfriend, Kylen Smith, and his manipulative ways. There is even a petition to get him removed from the show. Yet would his leaving cause more harm than good?
Unexpected Fans Want Jason Out
Every week, Jason further proves why he should be removed from the series. He was introduced at the beginning of Season 5 alongside his teenage girlfriend, Kylen. They were expecting their first child together but Jason seemingly thought he knew what was best for both of them. Due to his own insecurities, he wanted her to have a home birth. This was a major red flag for viewers because Kylen expressed her desire for a hospital birth. He also would rather spend time with his friends than let Kylen be with her family. Jason claimed they treated her like a child but she said it was normal for people to see their parents.
When the midwives said it was time for her to go to the hospital, he still did not feel Kylen was far enough along to warrant this. She said she would get there regardless. He was also against an epidural believing the baby would be hooked on drugs. Viewers have grown tired of his controlling behavior saying it is bordering on abusive. At this point, they have called on TLC to get rid of Jason because he has just become too much. It does not help that he recently was arrested with eleven pending charges. However, is it better if Jason stays put on the series?
Safer On Television?
Yes, fans of the series have many valid reasons to want Jason off of the show. Yet there is one possible reason he should stay- Kylen’s safety. With cameras around constantly, she is somewhat safer than she is when there is no one following her. One viewer had this to say: “I’m afraid if they kick him off the show though, it will get worse. He will make her leave & then who knows what will happen.” This followed a shortlist of horrible things Jason had done to endanger Kylen while she was in labor. They do make a point and a valid one. Many who signed the petition solely did it based on the fact they are tired of witnessing abuse.
What started as an attempt to get one thousand signatures for the removal of Jason has surpassed the initial goal. A new goal of fifteen hundred signatures has been set. Followers believe he is “toxic,” “abusive,” and needs a lot of “counseling.” Unfortunately, if the teen dad feels comfortable exhibiting such behavior in front of the cameras, what is he like off-camera? Maybe Kylen is better off with production there because how far can Jason truly go? That is yet to be seen.
Do you think it is better to keep Jason around for Kylen’s safety or does it really matter? Let us know and watch Unexpected Sundays on TLC.
