Last week’s big winner on The Masked Singer went home this week. Fairy impressed the fans who voted her through last week, but there was a new champion this week in Macaw.
Here is what we know about Macaw on The Masked Singer and who he might be.
Who is Macaw on The Masked Singer?
The Masked Singer has seen competitors winning and then losing in back-to-back weeks now. Two weeks ago, Squirrel won the fan vote and then lost last week to Fairy. Malin Ackerman unmasked as Squirrel and Fairy moved on to the next round.
However, just like Squirrel only lasted for one week in the competition, Fairy also lasted only one week. This week, Fairy had two competitors – Axolotl and Macaw. It was country music night and Fairy sang “Angel From Montgomery” by Bonnie Rait. It was a great performance and almost assured she would move on to the next round of the night. Axolotl, as cute as she was, was only decent on “Can’t Fight the Moonlight” by LeAnn Rimes (who won Season 4).
When Macaw entered third and brought the house down with “Live Like You Were Dying” by Tim McGraw, it was clear that Axolotl was going home. She was unmasked as WWE superstar Alexa Bliss. This put Fairy and Macaw head-to-head with “That Don’t Impress Me Much” by Shania Twain.
In the end, fans loved Macaw and it was time for Fairy to go home. We guessed that Fairy was Holly Robinson Peete, and sure enough, when she unmasked this week, that is exactly who she turned out to be.
The clues for Macaw on The Masked Singer
First up, the song that Macaw sang was “Live Like You Were Dying” by Tim McGraw, and Macaw proved to have a great singing voice. There was also country singer Deana Carter, appearing with a silver medal. She said, “It wasn’t until I left the nest that I struck gold.”
The clues were as follows. Macaw had been singing since he was young. Macaw also said that his dad would bribe him to sing, and it wasn’t a passion until years later. He talked about quesadillas and salsa and said he “spread my wings on bigger stages.” Furthermore, he said that Macaw is “flashy, competent, and he sings country songs,” which is the opposite of him in real life.
Macaw also said he struggles with anxiety, trying to be a “good son.” Macaw said that all changed this year when he chose to be “brave” in real life and on the stage.
Our Final Takes
We believe that Macaw is David Archuleta. This fits the silver medal, as he came in second place on American Idol behind David Cook. That was also a “big stage.” He also suffered from anxiety issues and as part of the LDS Church, was always scared to live his real life as a gay man.
In the last year, he finally came out to the public. Now, he talks about his life publically and during his concerts, living a brave life and letting fans know he is no longer going to pretend to be someone that he isn’t. There is also the fact his mother is Guadalupe Mayorga, a salsa singer-dancer.
Next week is ’80s Night, but Macaw doesn’t have to worry about that. Since he won in the final week of this batch, Macaw only needed one win to move on to the quarterfinals later in the season.
