Carrie Ann Inaba Questions Guillermo Rodriguez’s ‘Light’
Guillermo Rodriguez, 55, has quite the life story. He immigrated to the U.S. from Mexico many years ago. He was working as a security guard on the lot where Jimmy Kimmel Live! films in 2003. He was spotted sleeping in his car. Instead of firing him, Jimmy Kimmel gave him a spot on the air as his sidekick.
His humor and charisma have charmed late-night viewers for over 20 years. Now, he’s charming DWTS viewers despite his not-so-great dance skills. Despite landing in the bottom of the leaderboard for four weeks straight, viewers at home keep saving Guillermo Rodriguez from elimination.
He received a 13 out of 30 for his Samba to “Obsessed” on Mariah Carey Night. He received a 4 from Carrie Ann Inaba and some harsh criticism.
“What was going on? No, I’m serious. Where is all your joy?” she asked. “I felt like you were dimming your light a little bit in this dance.” Carrie Ann Inaba received boos for her comments. But she quickly defended herself from the crowd’s reaction.
“Look, this is what I get paid for, people. I want to tell you because I don’t want you to ever dim your light. You’re special, and you have a natural gift that we all need. Don’t ever not smile in a dance, I need your light. We all do,” Carrie Ann said.
Ultimately, Ciara Miller was the contestant who was sent home.
Witney Carson Blasts DWTS Judge’s ‘Out Of Pocket’ Comments
Some DWTS fans are convinced that Witney Carson is unhappy to still be in the competition. She revealed before the season that she’s pregnant with her third child. However, she denies allegations that she thought Guillermo Rodriguez would leave the show in the first week or two.
She genuinely seems to like Guillermo and took to his defense after Carrie Ann Inaba’s comments. “I think it depends on the song and it depends on the character,” she told TV Insider. “Mariah Carey is very much a diva. I don’t think Guillermo’s light dims no matter what. His light will always shine.”
She called the DWTS judge out for saying otherwise. “I felt like that was an ‘out of pocket’ comment from Carrie Ann,” Witney Carson said.
