Get ready to rev your engines, romance fans! Netflix’s licensing spree is showing absolutely no signs of slowing down. This time, the streamer is looking beyond the major broadcast networks and diving into the world of niche, romance-focused streaming. We’ve learned that all three seasons of the Passionflix original series Driven are officially set to land on Netflix US on September 2nd, 2026, marking the first time Netflix has ever worked with the smaller niche distributor.
Licensing deals are nothing new for Netflix; it works with all the biggest providers around the globe, including Paramount (SEAL Team), Warner Bros. Discovery (The Sex Lives of College Girls, Major Crimes), and NBCUniversal (Revival), all seeing their stuff added. But the addition of Driven proves that Netflix is also eager to scoop up steamy, highly bingeable content from smaller, dedicated streamers like Passionflix to satisfy its massive romance-loving audience.
What is Driven about?
If you aren’t familiar with Passionflix, it’s a streaming platform (co-founded by Tosca Musk) dedicated entirely to adapting bestselling romance novels into movies and series. Driven is arguably one of their biggest flagship titles.
Based on the massively popular, steamy novel series by #1 New York Times bestselling author K. Bromberg, Driven follows the intense, fiery relationship between two people from entirely different worlds.
The series stars Olivia Grace Applegate (Song to Song, Euphoria) as Rylee Thomas, a resilient and fiercely independent woman who runs a non-profit organization dedicated to helping orphaned boys with tragic pasts. Rylee’s own heart is healing from past trauma, and she keeps her guard strictly up. Enter Colton Donavan: a wealthy, reckless, and devastatingly handsome professional race car driver who thrives on living life on the edge.
When the two cross paths at a charity auction, sparks immediately fly. Colton is used to getting exactly what he wants—both on and off the track—but Rylee is the one exception who refuses to be easily won over. What follows is a deeply emotional, unapologetically steamy romance as the two damaged souls try to figure out if their undeniable chemistry is worth the risk.
For those diving in for the first time, it’s worth noting a minor shift in the cast: while Olivia Grace Applegate anchors the entire series as Rylee, the role of Colton Donavan is played by Casey Deidrick (In the Dark) in the first season before being recast with Michael Roark (The Young and the Restless) for Season 2 onwards.
We fully expect this adaptation to find a massive new audience on Netflix, giving the series that highly sought-after “Netflix Bump.”
