Dancing with the Stars eliminated Jamie Lynn Spears and her professional partner Alan Bersten after 13 couples performed for “Latin Night” during the Season 32 episode that aired Tuesday night on ABC.

Jamie Lynn, an actress and singer, and Alan became the second couple eliminated from Dancing with the Stars’ 32nd season after they had the lowest combined total of judges’ scores and viewer votes that were cast live throughout the two-hour episode.

Jamie Lynn and Alan had landed in the bottom two couples along with NFL All-Star running back Adrian Peterson and pro partner Britt Stewart. Adrian and Britt survived the night and will dance again next week.

“I’m so sorry,” Jamie Lynn whispered to Alan, before telling Dancing with the Stars host Alfonso Ribeiro and co-host Julianne Hough how she loved “working with Alan” and having him push her to be better.

“I think it was wonderful, and I hate this [elimination] for him the most. Thank you, Alan,” Jamie Lynn said.

“[And] there were a lot of great parts [about this show]. I think it was meeting everybody, learning so much, and doing something I never thought I’d do in my whole entire life.”

Dancing with the Stars judges Derek Hough, Carrie Ann Inaba, and Bruno Tonioli appeared very taken aback by Jamie Lynn and Alan’s early ouster.

“Honestly, it’s quite surprising,” Derek said of the night’s results.

“Jamie Lynn, you were fantastic, truly. You should be really, really proud of what you did here. It’s just wow! It’s a shocker, honestly. Congratulations to everybody else, but Jamie Lynn, we’re going to miss you.”

Prior to the elimination portion of the evening, each of the 13 remaining celebrity and professional pairings performed a Latin routine in one round of competition, hoping to eventually win The Len Goodman Mirrorball Trophy.

Two couples tied for first place and topped the judges’ leaderboard with a total of 24 out of 30 possible points: two-time Grammy winner Jason Mraz and pro partner Daniella Karagach as well as Marvel star Xochiti Gomez and pro partner Val Chmerkovskiy.

Jason and Daniella danced the rumba, and Derek gushed about the passion, tension, fluidity, control and sharpness Jason had brought to that difficult dance.

Bruno acknowledged how it’s rare for a celebrity to deliver a rumba like that during Week 2, and Carrie Ann noted how it was an “exceptional” performance with interpretive movement.

Xochitl and Val performed a 24-point worthy salsa dance.

Carrie Ann called the salsa Xochitl’s super power. She said the contestant told a story and gave the audience style.

Derek thought Xochitl’s turns were “out of this world” and that the routine as a whole was “exceptional.” Bruno added how he appreciated the couple doing an “authentic” salsa.

Two celebrities also tied for third place on the judging leaderboard with 21 points: The Bachelorette star Charity Lawson and singer and social media star Lele Pons.

Charity’s pro partner Artem Chigvintsev had tested positive for COVID-19, and so a new pro partner, Ezra Sosa, temporarily stepped in.

Charity and Ezra performed a cha cha routine, and it marked Ezra’s first dance as a pro.

Derek thought the couple had done an amazing job, but he asked Charity for more connection with her partner going forward.

Bruno said Charity could afford to relax a little more and needs to have sexual tension with her pro partner onstage. Carrie Ann thought it was an elegant dance but a little “tight and borderline stiff” at the same time.

Lele and pro partner Brandon Armstrong took the stage with a samba.

Derek told Lele that she was “cooking with some hot sauce” and it was definitely a spicy performance. He said her moves, however, tended to get “a little wild and crazy” but she can work on that. Bruno also asked Lele to polish her routines and finish the details.

Fifth place on the leaderboard went to Vanderpump Rules star Ariana Madix and pro partner Pasha Pashkov.

Ariana and Pasha performed a samba that received 20 points from the judges.

Derek said he was impressed by Ariana’s samba rolls and she looks like a natural performer who knows how to work the cameras. However, he said she lacked a little control and refinement. Bruno called Ariana “a sex goddess” and gushed about how the routine made him feel very hot.

American Pie actress Alyson Hannigan and pro partner Sasha Farber finished the night in sixth place on the leaderboard.

Alyson and Sasha danced a tango routine that earned 19 judges’ points.

“That was a woman in power,” Carrie Ann shouted, adding how Alyson showed poise and sensuality in her dance.

Derek thought the performance was “night and day” from last week with beautiful shapes, and Bruno complimented Alyson on her ability to portray a character.

Two couples tied for seventh place on the judges’ leaderboard with 18 points: supermodel and actor Tyson Beckford and pro partner Jenna Johnson as well as actress Mira Sorvino and pro partner Gleb Savchenko.

Both couples danced the salsa.

Carrie Ann told Tyson that his performance was explosive and he owned the dance floor. She said he was a “fantastic” partner to Jenna but could be heavy-footed at times. Derek also asked Tyson to loosen up his legs a little bit.

For Mira and Gleb’s part, Bruno noticed a couple of mistakes, and Carrie Ann said the actress was lacking “a consistent confidence” throughout the dance. Derek reminded Mira that she has natural dance ability but needs to unleash it and have more attack in her performances.

Ninth place on the leaderboard went to Jamie Lynn and Alan, who received 16 points from the judges for their cha cha routine.

Carrie Ann asked Jamie Lynn to lift up and elongate her torso to allow more airflow, and Derek pointed out how there was a little timing issue but it was also a big improvement from last week. Bruno added how Jamie Lynn had entertained, connected and come out of her shell.

Three celebrities tied for tenth place on the judges’ leaderboard with 15 points: Adrian, social media and Netflix star Harry Jowsey, and The Brady Brunch star Barry Williams.

Adrian and Britt took the stage with a samba, and Derek said he could see joy and love exude from Adrian’s dancing, which definitely had rhythm. Derek noted, however, that Adrian’s technique was a little rough.

Bruno could tell Adrian had applied himself, and Carrie Ann said she could feel Adrian’s power but he needs to center himself going forward.

Harry and pro partner Rylee Arnold danced the salsa.

Bruno explained how he could see Harry’s effort this week and that the dance had more content, even though he wasn’t always dancing in time. Carrie Ann shared how Harry’s eyes had lit up while he was dancing, and Derek praised the lifts and tricks.

Barry and pro partner Peta Murgatroyd performed the cha cha.

Carrie Ann suggested that Barry’s Week 1 dance was actually better, but the audience booed her loudly. Bruno said he loved Barry’s confidence because he was strutting himself like a proud rooster, but he noted how there were too many staccato movements.

And finally, real estate mogul and reality TV star Mauricio Umansky and pro partner Emma Slater landed in thirteenth — and last — place on the leaderboard.

Mauricio and Emma received only 12 points for their salsa routine.

Bruno thought Mauricio’s intention was good but he lost his footing halfway through the dance and couldn’t catch up. Carrie Ann thought Mauricio handled his mistakes well and came back strong. And Derek predicted that Mauricio will havee a comeback dance this season.
