Bill Maher just made a blunt comparison of President Donald Trump‘s UFC fights at the White House on his birthday.
On the Friday, June 12 episode of Real Time With Bill Maher, the late-night host, 70, took aim at the POTUS and his plans for turning 80.
He first discussed Trump attending Game 3 of the NBA finals between the New York Knicks and the San Antonio Spurs — and urged him not to show up to Game 5. “I’m not saying he made them lose,” Maher clarified. “I am saying I am offering $1 million not to go to this game. ”
Next, he admitted that he’s not much of a soccer fan amid the FIFA World Cup. “I don’t get the attraction of soccer. I don’t,” he said. “There’s more scoring in Bible camp.”
Maher then took aim at another “really big sporting event” on Sunday, June 14, on the White House’s South Lawn.
“Our redneck president is turning 80. And to celebrate, there is a UFC fight on the lawn,” he said. “So the emperor is holding gladiator games on his birthday. Nothing to see here. I wouldn’t think about it too much. Don’t worry about it.”
Maher added, “Hopefully the big fight will also serve as a celebration for a peace deal with Iran, which the president says is imminent. But he says that every week. They counted now; he has said it 38 times.”
Each week is the same, the stand-up comedian claimed, explaining, “It started with, ‘We have a peace deal. And then by the end, ‘We’re gonna hit them very hard,’ all caps, ‘Very hard, we’re gonna hit them.’ And he thought about it, with himself, and went back to peace.”
To conclude his thoughts on the topic, Maher asked, “Do we even really need Iran in this war? I mean, really, do we? Every time they pipe up, he says, ‘Who asked you? Stay out of it.’”
UFC Freedom 250 is part of the 250th anniversary celebration of the U.S. as an independent nation. Those who want to tune in can stream it on Paramount+ on Sunday, June 14, at 8 p.m. ET. UFC Freedom 250 will also broadcast live on CBS.
