President Donald Trump is a frequent subject when it comes to Bill Maher’s takes. Recently, the talk show host weighed in on the upcoming UFC fight scheduled for the White House’s South Lawn. During the conversation, Maher also discussed another sporting event Trump has recently attended.
President Donald Trump Will Host UFC Freedom 250 On The White House’s South Lawn On June 14
President Donald Trump has recently gotten various people talking with the upcoming UFC Freedom 250 event. This fight is scheduled on June 14, 2026, with a 92-ft. tall arena, “The Claw,” constructed on the South Lawn.
The event will serve a dual purpose. It will help kick off the United States’ 250th anniversary, which will officially take place on the Fourth of July, with other celebrations honoring the event set to take place throughout the country. The date, June 14, however, also coincides with the president’s 80th birthday.

As previously reported, various figures have weighed in on the story. UFC president Dana White, for example, expressed concern that weather or insects could impact the event, thinking back on a Rose Garden dinner that he attended. However, he also expressed that the event will still go on even if the weather proves troublesome.
This past Friday, Maher weighed in on the upcoming event during an episode of Real Time With Bill Maher. Prior to this, he discussed Trump attending Game 5 of the NBA finals between the New York Knicks and the San Antonio Spurs.
Bill Maher Also Discussed The Peace Deal With Iran During The Discussion
Maher joked that Trump wasn’t a good luck charm for the team, sharing, “I’m not saying he made them lose. I am saying I am offering $1 million not to go to this game.”
Maher then discussed the upcoming “UFC Freedom 250″ event, describing it as a “really big sporting event.” Sharing choice words for President Trump, Maher shared, “Our redneck president is turning 80. And to celebrate, there is a UFC fight on the lawn.”

The host continued, claiming that he didn’t think much of the event. He shared, “So, the ’emperor’ is holding gladiator games on his birthday. Nothing to see here. I wouldn’t think about it too much. Don’t worry about it.”
Maher continued, discussing Trump’s politics. He shared, “Hopefully the big fight will also serve as a celebration for a peace deal with Iran, which the president says is imminent. But he says that every week. They counted now; he has said it 38 times.”
As noted by TV Insider, UFC Freedom 250 will broadcast live on CBS. It will also be available for streaming on Paramount+ on June 14 at 8 PM ET.
