‘The View’ Elisabeth Hasselbeck Lands New Daytime Gig

- Advertisment -

Elisabeth Hasselbeck co-hosted ABC’s The View for 10 years before her dramatic departure. She returned earlier this year to fill in while Alyssa Farah Griffin was on maternity leave. Many viewers thought her return was an audition for a full-time role at the “Hot Topics” table. However, another network scooped her up for a new daytime gig. Keep reading for all the details on the shocking turn of events.

Why Elisabeth Hasselbeck Left The View

Elisabeth Hasselbeck joined The View in 2003. She didn’t have any experience in hosting talk shows, but had become a household name after competing on Survivor. She was one of the lone conservative voices on the panel, often making controversial statements or claims. The tension between Elisabeth Hasselbeck and Rosie O’Donnell came to a head in 2007.

Rosie O’Donnell left shortly after the explosive on-air argument. Elisabeth Hasselbeck stayed a few more years before leaving in 2013. She joined Fox News for several years before leaving to spend more time with her family. She’s published several books over the years.

She Lands New Daytime Gig

Elisabeth Hasselbeck returned to The View in March while Alyssa Farah Griffin was on maternity leave. She later said being back on television made her feel “alive.” She clashed with the other hosts over her support of President Trump but her return was overall successful.

Some people thought she might take over full-time for Alyssa Farah Griffin but another network swooped in with an offer she couldn’t refuse. Elisabeth Hasselbeck joins CBS Mornings this coming week from Monday through Thursday during the 8 a.m. hour. The news comes as the show is still looking to replace Tony Dokoupil after his promotion to CBS Evening News anchor.

Elisabeth Hasselbeck never held back on her political views while on The View. However, the outspoken conservative won’t be discussing politics on CBS Mornings. According to Entertainment Weekly, she’ll be covering “parenting, pop culture, and entertainment.”

Fans Blast CBS For Hiring Controversial Host

CBS viewers are still reeling from the end of Stephen Colbert’s late-night show. It was canceled last year and aired its last episode in May. Angry fans took to Reddit to share their reaction to Elisabeth Hasselbeck joining CBS Mornings.

  • “Yea i won’t be tuning in to CBS ever again.”
  • “Faux News Lite”
  • “Gotta cram all those right wingers on CBS morning show now”
  • “Got to fill it with Fox News type talent per Ellisons promise to Trump.”
  • “Probably include Laura Loomer, Kristi Noem and Trump’s children. The Ellisons haven’t made Trump completely happy yet.”
  • “Fox news part 2”
  • “CBS is a joke.”

One viewer predicted Elisabeth Hasselbeck’s gig could become permanent if Bari Weiss fires Gayle King after signing a short contract extension. Tune in to CBS Mornings this week to watch Elisabeth Hasselbeck in action.
