Christina Applegate is back home after reportedly being discharged from the hospital, almost four months after her admission.
According to TMZ, the actress, who was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis (MS) in June 2021, is back home and doing well. Applegate had been hospitalized in Los Angeles back in March, though it was unclear whether it had to do with her autoimmune condition.
At the time of her hospitalization, Applegate’s representative told Page Six, “She’s had a long history of complicated medical conditions that she has been refreshingly open about.”
The Dead to Me star took to her Instagram page in April to share a brief update with her fans, though she did not discuss the specifics of her hospitalization.
“Thank you for the outpouring of love and well wishes,” Applegate wrote. “Health issues are a constant for me, but I’m a strong chick and I’m getting stronger and better every day. I’m taking a moment to focus on my health, but I’ll be back with more to say soon enough.”
Actor David Faustino, who portrayed Applegate’s onscreen brother in Married… With Children, also provided an update on the actress’ health back in June.
“It’s been very hard for her, but she does keep her humor,” he told Us Weekly. “She gets through this with some humor, and that’s kind of her way that she moves through it. I do a lot of visits with her. A lot of texting, a lot of checking in.”
Applegate has been open about her health battles, frequently speaking about her struggles on the MeSsy podcast, which she co-hosts with Jamie-Lynn Sigler, who also has MS.
“I lay in bed screaming, like, the sharp pains, the ache, the squeezing,” the Anchorman star shared in a previous episode. “I can’t even pick up my phone sometimes because now [the MS] has traveled into my hands. So, I’ll try to get my phone or get my remote to turn on the TV or whatever, and I can’t even hold them. I can’t open bottles now.”
In another episode, she quipped, “I’m gonna be honest with you, I need to buy stock in Cottonelle because I haven’t taken a shower in three weeks. I can’t stand in my shower. There’s no f****** way.”
