Bachelor in Paradise star Joe Amabile revealed that he had a brain tumor and needed surgery to remove it. The doctors had no idea what it meant for him, but he was ready to find out. In a twist, it was a Dawson’s Creek star who guided him amid his diagnosis, but who was it? Keep reading for more details.
Joe Amabile Did Not Face His Brain Tumor Alone
When Joe Amabile learned he had a brain tumor, he admitted he was shocked. He never believed that could happen to him, but it can happen to anyone. Fortunately, he had the love and support of his wife, Serena Pitt, and the friends he made in the Bachelor Nation. Plus, he met great people on Dancing With the Stars. Then, an unexpected person popped up to help him, and it was a great asset to his surgery and recovery.

Former Dawson’s Creek star Busy Philipps was there for him amid his diagnosis and even helped him get into NYU. She recently revealed that she had a brain tumor, which rocked her world, so she was able to assist him:
“I talked to Busy Philipps and she told me, ‘I love my [care] team at NYU.’ Busy actually got me into NYU to go see [neurosurgeon Dr. John G. Golfinos].”
Joe Amabile added that Busy was so comforting and reassuring. Moreover, they had very similar experiences, which made him feel far better about undergoing his surgery. What made it even more meaningful was that Busy, a mother of two, was battling her own issues. However, she took the time to be of assistance to Joe. That meant the world to him and his wife:
“She’s been wonderful. The conversation I had with her really made me feel OK. It was pre-surgery and she made me feel very confident going into surgery.”
A Kind Soul
Joe Amabile’s wife, Serena Pitt, noted that Busy Philipps did not have to contact him. She did it selflessly and out of the kindness of her heart. That was what made it so magical because she was not looking for anything in return for the gesture. Now, they have a lifelong friend and someone they can lean on with a common experience:
“[Busy is] a great example of someone who had nothing to gain from reaching out and asking if we wanted her help. [She] was so selfless with her time, constantly messaging to check in. Meeting up with Joe, having conversations, referring us to NYU.”
It is really sweet to know that the Dawson’s Creek alum has a pure heart when it comes to being there for others. Would you have guessed that this would have brought Busy Philipps and Joe Amabile together? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.
