Deon Derrico Is Mourning A Huge Loss
TLC fans watch Karen and Deon Derrico’s large family, wondering how they managed to wrangle all of the children. It was a daily battle, but fascinating all the same. They shared a total of fourteen kids, which kept them on their toes. Unfortunately, in June 2024, the couple filed for divorce, but were to share custody. Only 13 children were minors at the time, and the agreement was that Deon had to pay Karen $1,166 per month in child support. As for Karen, she was to take care of the health insurance for their kids.
Sadly, in July 2026, Karen was arrested for threatening to kill their children and saying she wanted Deon dead. Per legal documents, Karen wrote this in an email:
“I could kill you, and it won’t even bother me to go to jail. I’ll kill any of my kids if they take your side.”
Karen also claimed that she possessed a gun and threatened Deon’s life, saying she would:
“kill him and/or his new girlfriend and/or his children and/or telling him there are lots of cousins and killing him would be easy and/or she will see to it that he dies a slow death.”
Obviously, this was terrifying for Deon Derrico, knowing someone that he was married to for almost two decades could be capable of such behavior. Now, he is opening up about what happened and added that it was like a death. He shared that he felt like “someone died” after Karen made these threats and was subsequently arrested.
However, Deon is not perfect, as he has real estate fraud charges. Yet, that is nothing like threatening death upon a former spouse or children. Karen and her team are disputing what Deon alleges happened. Moreover, she has pleaded “not guilty.”
Who To Believe?
Doubling Down With the Derricos fans have no idea who to believe. They do not care for Deon Derrico, so they are completely against him. Moreover, they have stated that he is “controlling” and “narcissistic.” When the show aired, they stated that they always felt bad vibes from him, and that likely has not changed. It seems that neither one is cared for, so, at the end of the day, it will be up to a judge to decide what happens to the children. Hopefully, they make the best decision for everyone’s sake.
