Like father, like daughter. The late, great Eric Dane‘s youngest daughter with Rebecca Gayheart will be following in her parents’ footsteps with a starring role in a new Lifetime movie inspired by real events.
The Ocean Between Them is part of the network’s “Strength of a Lifetime” slate and features Gayheart and her real-life daughter as a mother-daughter duo.
In the pic, Gayheart stars as Joan, a mother whose daughter, Miranda (who’s portrayed by Jessica Lord), disappears at sea during a family vacation in Belize. Georgia Dane stars as Ashley, Joan’s younger daughter.
The official description for the flick tells us, “After a heated argument sends Miranda out kayaking alone, an unexpected storm leaves her stranded at sea. As Miranda battles the elements to stay alive, Joan refuses to give up, launching a relentless search that tests her resolve and pushes her beyond her limits. Facing unimaginable odds, both women discover extraordinary strength and the unbreakable bond that connects them — even across the vast ocean.”

Also starring in the film is Karl Walcott as Luke, a local bartender who helps Joan with her search for Miranda.
The film, which is directed by Gabriel Correa from a script by Sam Lee, Angela Gulner, and Yuri Baranovsky, hits Lifetime on Saturday, September 26, at 8/7c.
This marks the screen debut of Georgia, who is 14 and recently graduated from middle school following the death of her father due to ALS complications. She is the second child of the Grey’s Anatomy and Beverly Hills, 90210 stars, following elder sister Billie.

The Ocean Between Them is one of two new additions by the network to its ripped-from-the-headlines series. The other, Sole Survivor of Flight 119, premieres on September 19 at 8/7c and stars Sarah Wayne Callies as Lisa Foster, who survives a plane crash in the Mexican jungle and must rely on her survival skills to return home to her young daughter. Costarring in the film is Joy Bryant as Rebecca Till, an airline executive who missed the flight and is assigned to care for the loved ones of passengers, including Lisa.
The two films are also joined by the previously announced 9/11-inspired story, Robin Roberts Presents Angel in the Rubble: The Genelle Guzman Story.
