The cast for the new season of Dancing with the Stars has been released, and one name is raising some alarms among fans. Keep reading to find out who fans are shocked to see on the roster.
DWTS new lineup announced
Dancing with the Stars has finally shared the beloved lineup of stars and their professional partners for the new season of the show. The cast includes some very familiar faces including Harry Jowsey, Ariana Madix, and Jamie Lynn Spears. However, one name is standing out amongst the others for some – Adrian Peterson.
According to The Sun, Adrian is a football player who has domestic abuse charges and has even spent some time in jail for it. Apparently, he turned himself in in 2014 for “reckless or negligent injury to a child in Texas.”
Despite the hefty crime, Adrian only had to spend less than 30 minutes in prison.
Now though, he will be taking the stage with his pro partner, Britt Stewart.
Needless to say, several fans are sounding off about their displeasure with this choice. It seems many are wondering why someone with domestic abuse charges is being allowed on the show.
DWTS fans furious
As mentioned above, Adrian Peterson will be dancing on DWTS and several fans of the show are very unhappy with this selection. Some even took to Twitter to talk about why they are so upset.
It seems that most are mad that the spotlight is being given to someone who has committed domestic abuse against a child.
“Looking forward to #DWTS this season, but Adrian Peterson? He’s abused his child and he’s been arrested for domestic violence. He has no business being spotlighted on this show,” one fan writes.
“the fact that adrian peterson being a child abuser is so well known that eminem referenced it in one of his songs and dwts just decided to……ignore that,” another shares with a screengrab of the lyrics to the song. The song says “What’s makin’ you think I need a switch? ‘Cause I’m Adrian Peterson/When he’s raging and heated and on the way to go beat his kid?/On the track get spanked like he just did,” all referencing the domestic abuse scandal.
Some fans are even going as far as to boycott the show. It seems they aren’t taking the news about Adrian lightly.
“I was real excited about this season of #DWTS until I saw Adrian Peterson.. HARD. Pass,” one person writes.
It will be interesting to see if the Dancing with the Stars team makes any changes to the lineup now that they are getting such intense backlash from their once-loyal fanbase.
