Grantchester
SUNDAY: The 11th and final season of the bucolic British Masterpiece mystery opens with village vicar Alphy (Rishi Nair) nervously anticipating a visit from his long-lost mother (Nimmi Harasgama), with whom he recently reconnected after she gave him up at birth. Leave it to his nosy friends to open up emotional wounds during a fraught Sunday dinner. By comparison, the case of the week — involving the murder of a shady car dealer during a drive-in movie fundraiser — seems almost an afterthought, although it becomes complicated when multiple suspects confess.

Patience
SUNDAY: The mystery cuts deeper in the compellingly poignant series, adapted from the French Astrid, about a young autistic police archivist (Ella Maisy Purvis) who proves to be a great asset to the local York constabulary. Unfortunately, as the second season opens, Patience gets a new boss — prickly DI Frankie Monroe (Jessica Hynes) — who has no patience, as it were, with the resourceful amateur sleuth from the bowels of the precinct. “Your naivety makes you more dangerous than helpful,” Frankie barks, even when Patience’s meticulous observations help them crack a bizarre case involving a man found drained of his “golden blood” type in what appears to be a vampiric attack.

NBA Finals
SATURDAY: A busy weekend for TV sports includes what promises to be a nail-biting Game 5 of the hard-fought series for the New York Knicks, seeking its first championship title in 53 years and facing the San Antonio Spurs (which beat them back in 1999) with a 3-1 advantage after last Wednesday’s remarkable come-from-way-behind victory. Should the Spurs force a Game 6, the action moves back to Madison Square Garden on Tuesday.
In other sports action, Game 6 of the Stanley Cup Finals (Sunday, 8 pm/ET, ABC) in Las Vegas finds the Carolina Hurricanes a game away from clinching their series against the Vegas Golden Knights. If the Knights tie things up again, the deciding Game 7 is scheduled for Wednesday back in Raleigh. Meanwhile, the FIFA World Cup continues in various venues across the U.S., Canada, and Mexico, with four games scheduled on Saturday and Sunday for teams in groups B through F. Interview With the Vampire
SUNDAY: Another seductive and over-the-top chapter of the supernatural Anne Rice saga’s third season, titled The Vampire Lestat, reveals turbulent aspects of Lestat’s (Sam Reid) pre-vampire life in 1770s France, where the stuttering lad is not at all like the hard-rocking alpha vamp he’ll become. Along for the wild ride: his most affectionate mother, Gabriella (a sensational Jennifer Ehle), who returns to his side in the aftermath of the Detroit carnage. Next stop: a not-so-holy Toledo.

My Adventures with Superman
SATURDAY: The animated superhero romp returns to the Toonami block for Season 3, with the Man of Steel (voiced by The Boys‘ Jack Quaid) finally accepting his Caped Crusader destiny and hoping to settle down. But his crush, Lois Lane (Alice Lee), now the Daily Planet‘s star reporter, has other ideas. New enemies besiege Metropolis, but will any be as terrifying as Quaid’s Boys nemesis Homelander?
