Kim Kardashian Was Married To Kanye West At The Time Of The Paris Robbery
Kim and the Kardashian family rose to fame thanks to the E! reality series, Keeping Up with the Kardashians. Since then, viewers have continued to follow the family’s story through other shows, such as Hulu’s The Kardashians.
Back in 2016, Kim was the subject of headlines after she was robbed at gunpoint in Paris. At the time, a gang entered her luxury apartment and stole millions in jewelry.
Recently, as shared by The Daily Mail, Kim spoke with author Jonathan Van Meter about what happened in the days leading up to the incident. At the time, she shared that Kanye West, who was her husband at the time, warned her about a robbery just days beforehand.
Kanye had gifted Kim a second engagement ring, with a rock worth more than 20 carats. She shared, “I wore both [engagement] rings out to one of Kanye’s concerts in New York City. Someone videoed my hands and I posted it because it was so blingy to have two huge diamond rings on. And I vividly remember that Kanye saw the post and said, ‘Don’t ever do that again – you’re just looking to get robbed.’”
Kim Shared That Her Sister Kourtney Also Gave Her A Warning
As Kim recalled, “He said, ‘I’m flashy, but that’s crazy even for me.’ And I was like, ‘Okay, got it.’” She shared that she was also warned by her older sister, Kourtney, the same week.
Kourtney’s warning came about after a text warning that her Los Angeles home was broken into. While it ultimately turned out to be kids using her pool, Kim claimed her sister told her, “It’s because of what you show on social media.”
As fans know, Kim thankfully escaped the terrifying encounter with her life and without suffering any major physical injuries. Ten people went on trial over the incident. Ultimately, the ringleader and seven others were found guilty. Two other defendants were acquitted.
Looking back at the moment, Kim thought about the impact it has had on her over the years. She mused, “That really f****** scared the s*** out of me. For life. But I look at the positive: It really changed me for the better. And I’m so much happier that my kids get this mom instead of the materialistic person that I was.”
Kim continued, “All the stupid things that I cared about: how I was perceived, putting this image out on social media… How many designer bags I had, what cars I drove – I still like all that stuff, but it doesn’t matter.” She felt the moment reminded her that, “It could all go away.”
