Marshals has revealed a big new casting change for Season 2. The Yellowstone spinoff is currently in production on its sophomore season in Utah and will debut this fall on CBS. When it returns, one character from Season 1 is getting a lot more screen time.
Morgan Lindholm, who played Pete “Cal” Calvin’s (Logan Marshall-Green) estranged daughter, Maddie, in Season 1, will return in an expanded role in Season 2, according to Deadline. Additionally, Marque Richardson joins the Marshals Season 2 cast in a recurring role as Assistant U.S. Attorney Patrick Burns.
Maddie became romantically involved with Cal’s employee, Miles Kittle (Tatanka Means), in the first season, and they were still together when the season ended. In the finale, Cal and Belle Skinner (Arielle Kebbel) were attacked in a life-threatening cliffhanger. Not long before then, Maddie started calling Cal “dad” for the first time, hinting at potential reconciliation between the father and daughter. Cal was also diagnosed with cancer earlier in the season.

Marshals follows Yellowstone‘s Kayce Dutton (Luke Grimes) as he forges a new life for himself and teen son Tate (Brecken Merrill) after the death of his wife, Monica Dutton (Kelsey Asbille). Tate was kidnapped at the end of Season 1, and Kayce and his fellow U.S. Marshals will be on the hunt for him in Season 2, which also stars Ash Santos as Andrea Cruz, Gil Birmingham as Thomas Rainwater, Mo Brings Plenty as Mo, and more.
Filming on Marshals Season 2 began in Park City, Utah, in June 2026, just a few weeks after the Season 1 finale in May. CBS renewed Marshals after just one episode aired in March 2026.
Marshals Season 2 is set to premiere on Sunday, October 4, on CBS. The premiere airs at 8:30/7:30c before returning to its usual 8/7c time slot for Episode 2 onward.
The Kayce Dutton spinoff is one of two Yellowstone titles returning for a second season. Dutton Ranch, starring Kelly Reilly as Beth Dutton, Kayce’s sister, and Cole Hauser as Rip Wheeler, has been renewed for Season 2 at Paramount Network and Paramount+.
