Attorney Bryan Freedman has spoken out following reports that his client, Perez Hilton, was hospitalized after live-streaming acts of self-harm on TikTok on Tuesday (August 4).
In a statement provided to LAMag, Freedman referred to Hilton by his real name, Mario Lavendeira, writing, “I, like many others, feel very concerned for Mario’s health, and I am trying to confirm that he is receiving the care that he needs to fully address the causes and conditions which led to this incident.”
He added, “It feels like a moment that deserves kindness and compassion.”

Police in Miami-Dade County Sheriff’s Office were called to the home of the celebrity blogger and reality TV personality on Tuesday night after social media users became concerned following a highly disturbing video. In the livestream, Hilton appeared to be nude and slashing at his own body with a knife while covered in blood.
In a statement provided to TV Insider, the Miami-Dade County Sheriff’s Office reported that “Deputies quickly located the individual’s residence, where they spoke with family members on scene, and he was confirmed alone inside.”
“In many incidents involving a person experiencing a mental health crisis or actively harming themselves, deputies prioritize de-escalation by creating time, distance, and opportunities for communication,” the statement continued. “At this time, deputies have tactically disengaged while continuing to monitor the situation and providing the needed support to his family.”
The Sheriff’s Office later provided an update, confirming, “The individual has been safely recovered and transported by Miami-Dade Fire Rescue to a local hospital, where he is receiving medical attention. The Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office Crisis Response Unit and Licensed Mental Health Professionals are also on scene providing support and resources to the individual’s family.”
