Perez Hilton‘s family has released a statement after authorities were called to his Florida home on the evening of August 4 following a concerning TikTok Live broadcast. According to an update the Miami-Dade County Sheriff’s Office provided to TV Insider, Hilton was home alone when the livestream took place.
During the broadcast, Hilton appeared nude, brandished a bloodied knife, and appeared to harm himself. Concerned viewers contacted authorities, who were sent to the media personality’s home. Hilton was subsequently hospitalized on the evening of August 4.
On Wednesday, August 5, his family issued a statement on Hilton’s official site: “Many of you have reached out with concern for Perez, and we are incredibly grateful for the overwhelming outpouring of love, support, and prayers. We can confirm that Perez is receiving medical care, and our family’s focus right now is on his well-being. Thank you for your compassion, understanding, and continued support. – The Perez Hilton Team and Family.”
Attorney Bryan Freedman previously gave a statement on Tuesday to LA Magazine, referring to Hilton by his real name, Mario Armando Lavandeira Jr., writing, “I, like many others, feel very concerned for Mario’s health, and I am trying to confirm that he is receiving the care that he needs to fully address the causes and conditions which led to this incident.”
Freedman added, “It feels like a moment that deserves kindness and compassion.”
The Miami-Dade County Sheriff’s Office later confirmed that “The individual has been safely recovered and transported by Miami-Dade Fire Rescue to a local hospital, where he is receiving medical attention. The Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office Crisis Response Unit and Licensed Mental Health Professionals are also on scene providing support and resources to the individual’s family.”
