Savannah Guthrie had a rare night out this week amid the ongoing investigation into her mother, Nancy Guthrie‘s, disappearance, which is coming up to the seventh-month mark on September 1.
As reported by E! Online, Savannah and her husband, Michael Feldman, enjoyed a night out at the U.S. Open 2026 in New York on Tuesday (August 25). The couple, joined by Savannah’s close friend and former Today co-host Hoda Kotb, watched Roger Federer’s exhibition matches against Andy Roddick and Andre Agassi.
Nancy went missing on February 1, when police believe she was abducted from her Tucson, Arizona, home. Investigators have released doorbell camera footage of a masked suspect and sent DNA for testing at the FBI lab in Quantico, but no arrests have been made, and no suspects have been named publicly.
The tennis date night marked a rare moment for Savannah to switch off from her mother’s alleged abduction, something she has previously said is hard to do. “It’s always with me,” she said during a June episode of Today, per E! Online. “I cry every morning on the way to work, and I cry every morning on the way home.”
Savannah said she is “grateful to have good friends and to be able to come to such a beautiful and joyous and supportive place.”

The long-time NBC host, who returned to Today on April 6 after taking a two-month hiatus following her mom’s disappearance, said that work is one of the rare times when she’s “not thinking” too much about the tragedy.
“It’s something to do, and it brings me a lot of joy to be with everybody,” she explained. “But, no, it’s not easy.”
In an August 1 Instagram post, Savannah said she and her siblings, Charles Guthrie and Annie Guthrie, “spend every waking moment thinking of [Nancy], longing for her, looking for her.”
“There is a hole inside us that can never be filled,” she stated. “There is an ache that cannot be softened. And there is a determination in us that cannot be quenched—to find out what happened to her, so that we can give her the dignity of a proper goodbye—a celebration of her remarkable life that she so deserves.”
In July, the Pima County Sheriff’s Department released details of two ransom notes sent in the days after Nancy’s initial disappearance. The first note, sent February 2, demanded $4 million in cryptocurrency in exchanged for Nancy’s safe return.
The second note claimed that Nancy had died shortly after she was taken, stating, “She is buried in nature now… Nothing you could have done could have changed the outcome. We are truly sorry.”
