Olympian and DWTS winner Shawn Johnson loves being a mother. Yet, being in the public eye comes with a ton of scrutiny. Recently, she shared a video of her son, Barrett, 2, giving her a giant kiss on the mouth. It was an adorable sight, but fans immediately hopped into the comments to bash the mother of three. A Controversial ‘Kissing’ Video
Shawn Johnson has had an extensive career, which includes the Olympics and a DWTS win. She then participated in Season 4 of Special Forces alongside her husband. Although he did not make it to the end, she did, along with RHONJ star Gia Giudice. It was a huge sense of accomplishment and something she could share with her three kids, Drew, Jett, and Barrett. However, she recently shared a video of her and her family on a boat. While there, Barrett, 2, jumped up on her and immediately gave her a smooch on her lips.
It was a very sweet moment between a mother and her son, but some followers felt the need to shame Shawn. They felt that it was inappropriate and that things like that should not happen, being that Barrett, aka Bear, was two:
- Pecks are one thing… Only Dad should be kissing mom like that 🫣
- Moms don’t need to be kissing their boys on the lips!
- This is weird. One little peck ok but this is a lot 😅
- This is weird. Don’t encourage this
After Barrett grabbed his mommy and kissed her, Shawn Johnson looked at the camera and just smiled. She appeared to relish these little moments and how much her baby boy adored her. In the caption, she wrote:
- what a smooch!! Hahahaha this guy came outta nowhere!!
Of course, some fans and followers were extremely supportive. Married at First Sight star Jamie Otis loved how much Barrett loved his mother:
- The way a boy loves his mama 🥰🥰🥰
Others admitted that they found this behavior strange until they had their own children.
Enjoy The Small Moments
Shawn Johnson seemed to relish the small moments with her son and made it clear she did not care what others thought. Again, many slammed what happened and were very verbal about how this behavior was wrong. However, others celebrated the love between a mother and a son:
- Guys he is still a babyyyyyyy this is okay! Damn some of yall need to live a little.
- Are you kidding me??? I always got kisses on the lips from my kids, AND grandkids!!!
- At that age, kissing your parents on the lips is NOT weird. Stop sexualizing everything.
- If you dont think this is weird, YOUR THE PROBLEM.
