Shirley MacLaine recently thrilled fans with an exciting announcement in a rare video.
On August 17, the iconic actress appeared in a clip posted by New York’s Southampton Playhouse on Instagram.
“Shirley MacLaine is excited for you to see SWEET CHARITY with us on Tuesday, August 25 at 7 PM!” the caption read, noting the 1969 film adaptation in which MacLaine starred as Charity Hope Valentin.
“Bob Fosse‘s first film was adapted from a Fellini film and transformed into a dazzling cinematic musical experience,” the post continued. “Cy Coleman received his first and only Oscar nomination for his music on the film. His widow, Shelby Coleman, will join us after the film for a personal window into her husband’s career. Close out the summer with this very special edition of our Tuesday Tunes series!”
For the video, MacLaine, 92, spoke directly to followers, sharing, “Hi, Southampton Playhouse. Wish I could be with you. I would like to see Sweet Charity again.”
She continued, “Now, while you’re watching it, remember how hard we worked. And between you and me, it didn’t do very well. So I hope you guys like it. Much love.”
