Survivor is known for being full of challenges and extreme conditions, putting contestants to the ultimate test. However, for one contestant, things didn’t end well. In fact, he lost his leg. Now, he’s looking for payment. Keep reading to get the whole story.
Survivor Contestant Loses His Leg
It’s no secret that Survivor can be hard. In fact, the whole point is to challenge contestants to camp, create relationships, and survive tough situations to make it to the end. However, it would seem things got out of hand. During Season 13 of Survivor Greece, a contestant ended up leaving with a very significant injury. So significant, in fact, he went home and had to have his leg amputated.
Apparently, Stavros Floros was on Season 13 of Survivor Greece, the season that aired earlier this year. While on the show, Stavros ended up with a very bad injury that occurred during a spearfishing outing. He says that he went into the water to catch his food, as required by the show. Fans know that contestants struggle to find food for themselves while on the show.

As previously reported, a statement about the incident reads, “According to the information available so far, the accident appears to have happened when a tourist boat injured the contestant while he was spearfishing outside the competitive process of the reality show.”
However, this situation was not typical. Reportedly, upon entering the water, his leg was struck by a boat propeller from a tour boat nearby. Of course, boat propellers have extreme force and can cause fatal injuries. So, this is not something to take lightly.
Stavros details his injury, saying he was struck above the knee, which severed his leg, which was then left in the ocean. He says that a “tourniquet applied by a stranger aboard the offending tourist boat kept him alive.” Thankfully, there was someone there who could help him; otherwise, there’s no telling what state Stavros would be in right now.
However, he did survive the injury, but not without a significant period of recovery. He stayed for 61 days in a hospital in Miami, where he had several surgeries on his leg.
Demanding Payout From Production
Needless to say, the Survivor contestant is demanding a payout from the producers of the show. It’s not a small payout either. In fact, he’s asking for ‘$100 million in damages.’ The injury happened while under the watch of the production team, so he believes that they owe him. Suing the team seems understandable, as his life has now changed forever because of the show.

Currently, there’s no telling how this will play out and if Stavros will get his payout. Only time will tell if this ends up playing out or if Stavros is forced to deal with his tremendous injuries alone.
